anybody tried getting those mystery quickdraws from acmeclimbing.com? they're just seven dollars but the catch is it's gonna be like a box of chocolates : you never know what you're gonna get! think its worth it? are they going to give you like assorted draws if you order more than one set or the same kind its just that you won't know what brand they are?

i don't know but i'm seriously considering it. if they're not so snazzy then i can use them to rack stuff or as a leaver. if they are nice then that's as cool as a cucumber.

i have some of the "mystery" draws. they're just fine. the biners are good quality and the slings are as good as anything else you might see. don't worry about them at all.

Their "mystery" draws are whatever they have overstock or most of at the time... I don't have any but I've talked to at least 1 guy who got the best draws they had on that deal... Besides the fact that, you just can't find draws for $7, I think its a good deal! duskerhu

Ok, so this is a bit off topic, but it still has something to do with "mystery" quickdraws. Legend has it that way back when, in Hueco Tanks (back when Todd Skinner was the Gun), Patrick Edlinger was firing off every route on a certain wall on-sight. Anyhow, a few "locals" were having some fun with a friend by putting velcro 'draws on a few of the routes. Edlinger moves from one route to the next and these guys are watching him wondering what to do about the inevitable moment when he starts up one of these "fixed" routes. They try to tell him what's up, but he apparently didn't speak much English (or is it Texan down yonder, at any rate, back to our program...). He looks at the locals, smiles, and hikes to the crux, reaches up to clip the velcro 'draw, and sees the velcro. He looks down at the locals who are sheepishly looking down at their feet. Very calmly, Edlinger takes the bogus 'draw off and puts one of his own in its place and fires off the rest of the route. He lowers off, smiles, hands the velcro 'draw back to the amazed owner and asks the rating of the route. "Oh, 5.12d." was the reply. "Thank you", Edlinger says and moves on to the next. Moral: who knows, but I bet the 'draws you are describing are just fine.

I got 4. The rule. The draws were all the same, not mismatched at all.
