i am a dues paying member, mostly because even if i dont agree with every decision they make, they are still the most reasonable voice us climbers have. they are still the only climber-based activism group that has the power and money to influentially lobby in gongress on our behalf. plus they help maintain and establish land manager communications to better negotiate issue-free access in many popular climbing areas. thats something that most climbers cant do on their own, cause land managers dont lsten to us until there is a checkbook involved...
