Along the lines of the similar thread, what food do you crave after the hike/climb/whatever? We have often noted that on the descent, conversation quickly turns to food. Our faves are Tim's Jalapeno Cascade Chips and B&J's Cherry Garcia. And if we're coming back from North Cascades NP, we stop by the caboose for the milkshakes made from a whole milk with minimum of 7% fat.

This is a subject my partner absolutely forbids me to talk about in the tent. I was very psyched to get back to Mendoza after Aconcagua and eat a Bife de Chorizo with a bottle of Malbec - the steak is monstrous and way better than any beef i've had in the USA. When I got back to the states, I headed straight to Chipotle for a burrito and then home for some Bridgeport IPA. In Mexico, I always go for an Arracherra and a Negra Modelo.

After a day out climbing, I really enjoy a big bowl of ice cream. It doesn't really matter what kind, just some ice cream.

It's funny, becasue whenever my boyfriend and I go climbing at JTree, we always bring bagels and hotdogs to eat, and that's pretty much it. There is always enough to last us the weekend, but he can never stick to it. We ALWAYS end up driving into town for Taco Bell.

We eat all kinds of stuff, anything that we can figure out how to cook at a campsite. But on the way home from the Throne we ALWAYS stop at Pizza Hut in Harrisonville. Don't know why we just always do.

After a long day of climbing all I can think about are Vit B (beer), Vit M and Vit P. And of course a nice philly steak sanny with salad and pitcher of grasshopper at the drake in canmore. Usually nothing can beat BEER. [ This Message was edited by: stevo on 2003-02-12 14:12 ]

If I'm in the Daks then it's gotta be the Noonmark diner in Keene Valley. I swear we keep them in business! Otherwise I'm with Thomer on the Ice Cream, and I definitely crave Panda Paws. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirls and peanut butter cups. Heaven ~Andy

I'm with atg200, zeta and beercanclimber on this one. I'll bet I can identify the best Mexican food places within a reasonable distance of most climbing areas in the country. Somehow a big wad of greasy Mexican food hits the spot after a hard day of bouldering or climbing. Perhaps it is the Margueritas that accompany the food???? (If you climb in the Gunks, don't PM me--you're on your own. There's an exception to every rule.) Curt
