"If there is a crack around, I'm going to stick something in it!" This quote is mine, as told to a group of sport weenies (who are stereotypically perverts as a group). I was trying to stress my affinity for trad climbing, but of course the sport weenies took this the wrong, preverted way. Laughing and pointing ensued. Dorks. Travis

While working on a hard top rope and straining I once said: Must....stop....talking....like.... William...Shatner. Broke my wife up something awful and I almost got dropped.

Climbing overhangs are like running hills. You have to do them until you love them. I told this to Easysteve, when we were climbing one day. Casey

my friend bit it before making his first clip on a difficult route in rumney. he hit the ground and amazingly didn't get hurt. a couple weeks later we were climing indoors, and on our first warm up route as he grabbed the first hold and started climbing, the smartass in me causually remarked "let's make that first clip rob"

I had been climbing with a group of people. Some I new, some I didn't. This girl walks up to me and sez: "How about a belay". Sure, I start fumbling with the device and mutter: "Hmmm... how does this thingy work?". For about a second she looked horrified, then realized I was kidding. The look on her face was priceless.

"Come to the edge.” "We can't. We're afraid.” "Come to the edge.” "We can't. We will fall!” "Come to the edge.” And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew. Guillaume Apollinaire, 1880-1918

The following quotes came from "The Quotable Climber." Buy it! "When a woman hunts for a partner she is instinctively looking for one who would provide her with a good strong gene pool........if he has a tendency to hang from cliffs by his fingertips.......it's a pretty safe bet he's fit and healthy." --Cosmopolitan "Only the pure climb gracefully." "I piss on you all from a considerable height." --Celine "I wouldn't mention this to my wife, ja? --Richard Hechtel, after bouncing 30 feet, just missing the ground. "Are you all right?" --Hermann Buhl, after taking a 200-foot leader fall, yelled up to his partner. "Yes! Are YOU alive?!" --Response to Buhl
