8) Hey, I just moved to AZ about a month ago from New England. I've been climbing for over a year- mostly sport at Rumney and some trad following at the Gunks and the New and the Red. I can climb up to 5.10, but usually only lead sport up to 5.8. I'm looking for a group of people or individuals to spend some fun weekends with climbing. I'm 23 and am a safety-first climber. I am working with a nonprofit in Florence, AZ, so I can get to Phoenix area or Tucson area easily. Queen Creek is closest for me. I'm excited to explore the state's climbing and am also looking for people to go out to Joshua Tree with. Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks, Lauren

For the Tucson scene, visit www.tucsonclimbers.org, or try the U of A Cliffhangers club. They sponsor trips and things pretty regularly. Also, Rocks and Ropes gym is a good place to find partners. Welcome to Arizona!

Welcome... I know that we have a pretty good crew in Phoenix. Talk to Maurice (me_lad) to get the scoop. The crew is usually at one of the gyms, I think it's Phoenix Rock Gym this month, 2-3 times a week. I just moved to Tucson yesterday, so we'll be hitting Lemmon a bunch too. We're always open to new climbers. Once again, welcome... Oh yeah, get in touch with climberchic... she's the legendary PHX welcome gal, and she's cool to boot... rob

Welcome to lovely Florence, Lauren! I didn't think anyone else that climbs would be crazy enough to stay here. I've done my time and I'll be moving up to Apache Junction May 1st. Time living here, not in prison  . My wife, Angie, and I are actually just looking into climbing again. We just had our first, and hopefully only, child, Ash. Queen Creek is really easy to get to from here, about 35-40 minutes. If you have a high clearance vehicle, take a drive into Box Canyon in the Mineral Mountains right here, and explore the trailless canyons, ridges and peaks. No one leaves the roads out there, so it's wild. When are you able to get out? I have off Tue, Wed & Thur and Angie's not working yet. We could also get out Fri & Sat afternoons and Sun & Mon mornings. What do you think? And while I'm here, hello to everyone else in AZ. Is anyone else available to climb midweek? John

leibegel- try joining the AMC, the AZ Mtneering Club. You might find a good partner or two in the midst of all the infighting and politics, and, if nothing else, they'll send you a newsletter/email letting you know which AZ crag they are going to drape with topropes on which weekend, allowing you to avoid them entirely. Not bad for just $25.00/year.
