A person counts their years when they have nothing left to live for. Only a handful of people climb 5.14 SPORT. Even less climb 5.13 crack. If you're chasing numbers, you're already too old and will never make it.

In reply to: You will never learn to equalize your nuts in a gym. Go outside now! That's the biggest reason I got into it! To get outside that is....

Jay, If sport climbers can make a verb of "trad" then trad climbers can make a verb of "gym" - the catch, however, is that the verb is "wank" instead of "gym" ;) josh

I don't think it matters at what age you start climbing, as a number of these posts prove. I am of the opinion, and a lot of people do and will disagree with me about this, that in order to be one of those 5.13/5.14 climbers you have to climb ALL THE TIME... you have to throw your entire life into it, and make it your occupation rather than your hobby... sure, there're some super-freaks out there who are weekend climbers and can pull on 13's on a regular basis, but for the most part i think, in order to climb consistantly at that high a level, it has to be a full-time affair... but as someone said earlier, you have to decide whether you're in it for the fun or the glory, and it's all about the goals you set for yourself... 8)

I must say I'm a little jealous that you're doing 5.11b after only six weeks.

Thanks for all the replies people. Climbing to me will always be about enjoying myself. But it's still nice have some feedback on potential limitations. Cheers'

Because the only reason any of us climb is to that we can spray the shiz. reach higher grades, and tell everyone we're the shiznit. The only reason i climb is because it freaks me out, man. the shiz is so freaking fun!
