"There's a really cool crack in J-Tree called Candy-Colored Tangerine Flake Streamlined Baby. We're not sure how it got the name but it's a really nice 10b." We'll it's the name of a Tom Wolfe novel...and the climb is also known as Illusion Dweller.

A friend of mine put up one south of Grand Junction called "High Over Hantavirus" since there was a dead rat at the bottom of it. If I remember correrctly, there's one over in the South Platte that I climbed called "Slimey Slit". A very wet hand/fist(?) crack. It's been a while since I've been on it, so my memory may fail me.

This week was yet another week at Sam's Throne, AR for me and a friend. We climbed for the first time "Windy Broken Arm" a 5.10 + on the main bluff. We questioned the name until my friend came off about 20 feet up, swung back about 20 feet, and smashed his leg against a tree. Needless to say the route has quite a negative angle to it! His leg took the impact alright, but im guessing if you caught an arm on the tree it wouldn't fair so well.

i wouldn't give it something i had come up with sitting at home. i would want to give it something approptiate for the type of problem it is and how the moves are. you know, if it was reachy or dymanic or crack would really help me find a fitting name. i'm not a big fan of names like Monkey Buttfuk or something like that. i see the humor, but i wouldn't do it. unless i had been drinking, then i would call it something totally idiotic :)

In reply to: i would want to give it something approptiate for the type of problem it is and how the moves are. you know, if it was reachy or dymanic or crack would really help me find a fitting name. I would do the same I think, but I would make sure it still sounded idiotic. If I couldn't link the two together, I'd pick something stupid over something that describes the route. It just seems right that way.
