I was thinking of getting either the 5.10 Saphires or Zlippers, but I hear that these are rather supple shoes. Supple is great for the gym, but I remember the first season I took my 5.10 Diamonds out on the rock, three months later and they were about ready for a resole (bloody NS granite). I'm sure my foot technique has improved since then, but I would still like something with a narrower heel that will last for a while out there. So did I hear right about these shoes, any body have some other suggestions for me, and better yet anyone know where I can try on the shoes that they suggest in the Toronto area. (If it wasn't for the fact that I havn't seen a store yet that accually carries the Mythos, I'd probably own a pair of those by now). And my deepest appoligies for starting another shoe thread.

Skip the Sapphires. They fit really nicely, but they wear out FAST, IMO. The soles held up really nicely on mine, but they quickly went from "supple" to "floppy as all hell", and the rubber started delaminating after about four months. k.

Most retailers don't carry the Zlippers anymore...I guess they had some problems with the seams around the zipper popping open. :?

I have been climbing in the zlippers for 8 months and they still have a nice edge on them. No problems with the seam near the zipper popping, but I have a very narrow foot. I climb both in the gym and outside and they are far from needing a resole. But I don't climb on a lot of granite or limestone. Sandstone is most prevalent here. Hope that helps. :D

I've heard of wife-abusers, but you've gotta be really sick to be abusing women's shoes!

I can't seem to do too much to my La Sportiva Mythos...Pretty hardy shoe. I climb mostly on Granite and am not always the nicest to my shoes either!

In reply to: Most retailers don't carry the Zlippers anymore...I guess they had some problems with the seams around the zipper popping open. :? I REALLY wanted a pair of zlippers  I can't find them anywhere and I'm not too keen on buying without trying them on.

In reply to: I REALLY wanted a pair of zlippers  I can't find them anywhere and I'm not too keen on buying without trying them on. That's my problem with the Mythos, I'm not going to buy them without trying them on. That's why I was thinking the Saphires, they do fit well and I can get them back home. But as was said, they're nice and soft, and I don't think they'll stand up very well to the granite when I get back to Halifax. If anyone knows where you can get Mythos around Toronto let me know!

I own two pairs of mythos - the men's version for longer days outside and the women's version for shorter routes. The second pair of mythos were bought to replace the sapphire's I blew through in 3 months. Good luck! B

From what I've heard so far, it seems like the sapphires suck. :? I've had my diamonds for 1 1/2 years and had them resoled after a year. Pretty comfy now. I've had my moccasyms for about 6 months now and they're a great shoe.

I just got some Scarpa Dominatrix...still breaking them in. I'll be sure to post an update once I've developed a solid opinion about them ;) :) Cali
