This was just delivered by horse courier: Who'll go cookin', boulderin' over the river, and hootin' and hollerin' with Old Ben Milam? I know you done me proud at the Alamo, but what have you done for me lately? Iffin' you weren't sure how to spend your 4th, start thinkin' Pace Bend. Gonna be a ton of climbers there havin' a good time. Word is some club called the Central Texas Mountaineers is puting on the hodown. They will be setting up at Thurmon's Cove at around 11am and will be providing a keg of beer and BBQ and veggie burgers. Please bring sides if you like. Donations would be greatly appreciated. Heck, that sure beats swattin' skeeters on the back porch drinkin' Bud Lite. Pencil that down in yer calendars. You folks wanting to camp better look into making reservations. I don't know much about this internet thing, but here's the site for the park: http://www.co.travis.tx.us/tnr/parks/graphic/parks_graphic/pace_bend.htm Use the park telephone to make reservations or ask more questions. Pace Bend Park Phone: (512) 264-1482 -Old Ben Milam

It's on Highway 71 a bit west of Austin, so not exactly near Houston.
