Check out the Wichita Wildlife Preserve near Lawton first. It is by far one of the more popular areas. http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=2798 It is a large area, and though mostly trad, there are rumors of sporty stuff out near Crab Eyes. Chandler park is in/near Tulsa: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=1333 And you might want to get the Oklahoma Climber's Guide by Chuck Lohn.

Look up my friend Tony Mayes. You should be able to find his web site with a google search. He runs a local guide service and is a really great guy. I'm sure he'll give you beta until your ears fall off! I hear there's some amazingly hard sandstone out there. Have fun!

TO CLIMB: the Wichitas, the Wichitas, the Wichitas! ...Big...Beautiful...and Buffaloes. also the 'Tas seem to me a bit of a meteorological anomaoly as it almost never rains there...in fact, it's one of the only things that makes me proud to be an Okie. loads of established routes (ON GRANITE...yeah!) by the old goats = a 5.8 that you can be proud to back off of. and after climbing, you can mosey on up the road a ways and scarf a longhorn burger so big it has to be served in a pieplate. TO BUY: Chuck's book. TO SHOP: I'm in Tulsa, but I think they have a Backwoods and Sun & Ski in OKC too. not 100%, as I order most of my gear from the internet. our rock gym is New Heights. OKC's is OKC Rocks. PM or email me sometime if you need people to climb with. I have people. :?

please don't tell me you're going to OSU. If you are I just have to say one thing...boomer sooner Any way, there are a lot of little climbing areas scattered throughout pretty much everywhere but the pan handle. In Tulsa, there's Chandler with bouldering and lots of it. It's all really polished limestone but there are still very good climbs. and a lot of locals climb out there everyday and can help you out a lot. Also, there's the New hieghts Gym. it's an excellent gym and is pretty easy to find north of Tulsa there are couple decent cliffs(for the area) that are relatively unheard of. In Skiatook there are pretty good cliffs with insanely hard routes and just outside of Barnsdall I heard there are cliffs but have never been. then some bouldering here and there. nothing really worth traveling for but if you're in the area they are nice to play around on southeast there's robber's cave and it's surrounding areas southwest you got the Wichitas

In Tulsa, there is Backwoods (51st & Sheridan) and Sun & Ski (71st & Memorial)...if you are a member of the Boy Scouts or Explorers Post (or just about anything related) you can get a 20% discount at Backwoods and I believe a 10% discount at Sun & Ski. John's Wall @ Chandler has some pretty good climbs...watch out for the centipedes! Witchitas (Mt Scott area near Lawton) rock! 8)
