In reply to: what have you accomplished if you make it? On the other hand, what does it mean if you die for such a foolish goal? It means the same in oth cases ... you've lived.
In reply to: (If I can stop one idiot from free soloing my work is done) This idiot wasn't stopped ... sorry.

In reply to: This is reminiscent of the marijuana thread, in which those who had not smoked were the strongest advocates against it. Very interesting point! You're right ... now, the interesting question ... are they actually the same people?

In reply to: now, the interesting question ... are they actually the same people? I would imagine that they are the same... but people with invalid opinions don't make a huge impression on me, so I can't be sure.

I always wonder how so many seem to feel that the world would be a better place if everyone just acted like them (or actually in most cases if everyone acted like they think they should act). If everyone was going to be the same, who would we model ourselves after? Chris Sharma? Wait, does he know how to grow food? We're going to need to eat.... Mary-Lou Jorgenstens? She grows some great veggies. But wait, she can't build houses...we're going to need places to stay! An besides, she doesn't climb so hard. Well? I want the people I love to be safe, for sure. I also want them to be free. And I want to trust them to know themselves, and make good decisions. I want them to give me the same faith back. (And also cause I really don't want the headache of having to make their decisions for them!) Freesolo your wall, smoke your pot. Let me grow my petunias. Peace, -p Oh, and it was Alex Huber I think, freesoloing Hasse-Brandler, about 2000 feet of 5.12a limestone in the dolomites. My head spins just thinking about it!
