I am writing this piece to inform all those concerned with continued access to climbs on public land.

I recently attended a meeting on future land use for my area (West Mojave) region. The future use plan was discussed as a document for protection of wildlife. But in reality, it seems its a cover for a "close the land" policy similar to northern califonia and probably the other 300 million acres leased by the US today. And to allow continued grazing for private parties at public expense.
You can get a copy of the plan from the blm sent for free.It is two volumes and weighs about twenty pounds.I belive it is subtley designed make people not want to read it.

is it really such a good idea to have everyone post their personal info on a public forum?

What personal information?? mungeclimber climber is asking for phone numbers not of the poster, but to either get more information on the potential closing or on who to call to complain.

This seems a bit strange to me. While I don't agree with grazing cattle on public land, it rarely results in access issues. Persons with grazing leases on BLM and forest service lands typically must allow access for recreational users. One is usually required to go through a gate, or over a cattle guard, end of story. How is cattle grazing affecting access in the situation you are referring to?

Bottom line is that climbers need to be a voice in the issues that envolve any public land because it is our land. Its is best to be honest and in the long run we we be respected as legal users of public land. And they wont close off land for grazing If there is a demand for use.
I have personally seen the dramatic decrease of plants and animals in the climbing areas in the west mojave region.I and many people belive that the new cattle grazing allotments are unnessesarly hazardous to the safety of all life in the area.It is not known buy the blm what effects the cows have on our future because all the blm wants is more money. And the peoples opinion matters the most.
Many areas are not known as climbing areas to the blm because they are sort of secret.

On the short term this is an enviromental issue, and the long term an access issue.California cows are not happy.
