All of the people that I have talked to said it is not considered legit.
I'm new to this and all I have done is TRAD climbing and a couple of Sport routes and they seem like there a little too easy, even though they are rated 5.12? And are the rating considered the same , they dont seem to be the same. All I have climbed is Yosemite and my local spot(crag) and they are forsure differnt in there ratings. Just like the Gym witch is definitly fake ratings. I just want to do what ever is real climbing and not be fooled by Sport ratings. Anything you can tell me would be wonderful !
Thankx

Ratings may vary per region and per person who informed the guide book author, and gym climbing, in my opinion, is very different from rock, so I try not to relate them too much when it comes to grades.

As for what is real climbing, going up stairs is real climbing. Just do what you enjoy, and if you're not happy with the rating system, ignore it. Simple.

This seems like a troll.

Anyone that can really do a 5.12 sport climb would know that sport climbing is legit.

Anyway, IMO, Yosemite ratings are considered tough by the majority of climbers. Sure, clipping bolts is less committing than trad. But hop on a 13 and tell me its not real climbing.

Sport climbing is not real climbing, it's just a glitch in the matrix.

hahahahahaha!!!

I guess that we've never met, dude. the only legitimacy in my mind of sport is that it is good training when nothing else is around. other than that, it is nothing more than the contrived, unethical pursuit of numbers.

and I''m not going to tell you the numbers that I climb.

CROWD: A witch! A witch! A witch! We've got a witch! A witch!
VILLAGER #1: We have found a witch, might we burn her?
CROWD: Burn her! Burn!
BEDIVERE: How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2: She looks like one.
BEDIVERE: Bring her forward.
WITCH: I'm not a witch. I'm not a witch.
BEDIVERE: But you are dressed as one.
WITCH: They dressed me up like this.
CROWD: No, we didn't -- no.
WITCH: And this isn't my nose, it's a false one.
BEDIVERE: Well?
VILLAGER #1: Well, we did do the nose.
BEDIVERE: The nose?
VILLAGER #1: And the hat -- but she is a witch!
CROWD: Burn her! Witch! Witch! Burn her!
BEDIVERE: Did you dress her up like this?
CROWD: No, no... no ... yes. Yes, yes, a bit, a bit.
VILLAGER #1: She has got a wart.
BEDIVERE: What makes you think she is a witch?
VILLAGER #3: Well, she turned me into a newt.
BEDIVERE: A newt?
VILLAGER #3: I got better.
VILLAGER #2: Burn her anyway!
CROWD: Burn! Burn her!
BEDIVERE: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
BEDIVERE: Tell me, what do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn!
CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDIVERE: And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches!
VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDIVERE: So, why do witches burn?
[pause]
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood...?
BEDIVERE: Good!
CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDIVERE: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDIVERE: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDIVERE: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond!
BEDIVERE: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDIVERE: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDIVERE: And therefore--?
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
CROWD: A witch!
BEDIVERE: We shall use my largest scales!
[yelling]
BEDIVERE: Right, remove the supports!
[whop]
[creak]
CROWD: A witch! A witch!
WITCH: It's a fair cop.

Ziss thread is not a troll! And sport climbing is what we, the Huber Brothers have now decided is the only way to climb! We are selling our traditional gear to purchase Hiltis and bolts, ja! Come join us when we visit El Gigante to put up a new route! It will be safe, I assure you!
