Yosemite cause I like to use a fig 8, however if you're redpointing or falling some etc an 8 will tighten up and it's a pain when you're pumped. When you untie you pull out the backfed bit and it loosens the knot. Anyone know another reason? peace, -p

i dont use the bowline much at all, but if i did, i would use a bowline w/ yosemite finish. it just gets the extra rope out of the way. I dont think i've ever seen a fig 8 w/ yosemite finish, is it just a bomber bight or something?

I use the yosemite back pass because you never end up reaching down and grabbing the short end of the rope when goign for a clip, and it does help in untying when your pumped. You just pass the free end of the rope back down through the center of the knot over the two parrallel middle pieces ... That is hard to explain isn't it, I don't know how to post pictures else I'd do up a Paint drawing.
