I want to know if RC is considered a 'mainstream' sport in your countries...in mine, it's a sport gaining popularity very fast but I think most still consider it an 'alternative' sport issit the same over there?

I think that the sport of rock climbing is still not an mainstream sport; though some of us like to think it is. One thing that has improved fromt the sport of rock climbing becoming more popular is that stores are selling more climbing gear and climbing gyms are popping up everywhere. I think that rock climbing will become more popular but never become a true sport because the US is so rooted in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and hockey.I think the sport will continue to become popular enough to open more gyms and develop more areas to climb but nothing like the main sports you see on television here. But who really knows? I could be totally wrong and some people may believe differently

I would think even though Rock climbing is the ultimate spot and you should have titled this post Rock climbing the ultimate sport,it will never be a mainstream sport, in my own twisted way im glad it wont be "hard to explain".

I think rock climbing is an alternative sport and I for one want to keep it that way. I hate when stuff becomes trendy! Plus as sports move to the mainstream they get exploited and ultimately ruined. Just think there would be climbers making $100 million a year and going on strike because of salary caps!!
