I know a beautiful out of the way spot to do some aid climbing in, just don't know any body up for the hike in and long belays. Great sandstone cracks with about 300ft in height.

300 ft sandstone cracks! Caught my attention. So where is it? How long is the hike?

I could be interested in something like that. Pm me if you don't want to disclose the info.

Lets see... 300 foot sandstone...

Most likely Sedona, potentially Grand Canyon.
Take a helmet.

Hehe. You're talkin my language! I know of several, myself -- just haven't been able to get to any of them yet. One in particular is extraordinary back in one of the canyons off Schnebly Hill Road. Any chance you're refering to the aid route on Shangri La? I've done that 2 mile hike several times and blazed trail back there three weekends in a row last year. Never did have a weekend to go tackle it, though. Temps are cooling of and it's definitely back on my "to do" list.

To me, it's not an aid climb if it doesn't involve an epic approach.
Maybe we should talk.

Well the hike in really is not all that bad. Its about 800ft? elevation change over one mile, so its just real steep. The quality of sandstone varies from crap to imaculate with lots of really nice looking lines all over. Some look like they would go free at .9 or .10 but most are going to be aid. I don't want to post the location but I'd be more than happy to share it by email. thinric@wesd.k12.az.us
I found the area because of the canyoneering there and then was really impressed by the high walls. I went back again with some friends on a camping trip and checked it out a little more but would love to go back with gear and give some of the lines a shot. I'm thinking about going up on the 25th so far but my aid rack is a bit skimpy so I've been waiting to find someone to pool racks with.

I'm heading for Zion for the weekend in a few hours. Rob, I just put up a short practice aid climb that would be good for you to go practice on. PM me for details. Maybe we can all hook up to go check this place out soon. Todd, I'm interested and will shoot you an email. Sounds cool.

Yeah sounds like it would be fun. Its easy to do a day trip there from Phoenix but there are also some great camping spots.
