A couple of days ago i was talking about bouldering with one of my partners, and he described a certain problem(The Dean Problem) as "Proud" i really didn't know what he meant until i got there, It was a perfect balance of power, mental(it was highball), and physical... it was amazing just as he described it "Proud". Any other problems you would describe as "Proud"?

well, seeing as how we've got the Christian Climbers advertising on our site, and how "pride" is one of the seven deadly sins, I think you'd better just delete this post.

the dean problem in LCC? I'd say there are plenty of "prouder" lines in the canyon.
shivers, triple threat, prime rib, ring toss, etc.
One line that really sticks out in my head as proud is Ride the Lightning in Squamish.

The dean problem is a result of early pioneers quarrying the canyon to get rock for the LDS temple in salt lake city, even though its chipped its still awesome moves

despite the chipping it is still fun, and don't forget tall.
the height and sense of accomplishment/adrenaline when you reach the top is probably why it was referred to as "proud."

what about slashface at hueco, seen pictures of it, nice angle of rock, its a pure line going at what V13, not that 99% percent of us cant do it, but I dont know any other pure lines that i have seen pictures of that inspire me. Granted I could be wrong but i think slashface looks so fun, cant wait till i get to go to huecos whenever that is. :lol:

That thing is hella hard, too. I could barely hang on the start holds, and couldn't really get anywhere with the moves.

there probaly are, I really haven't been to a lot of areas there, could you please tell me where these problems are and their ratings(so i dont try so V8 highball with an X rating) thank you.

I haven't seen many pictures of it but when I saw that photo there was no boubt what it was. What a classic problem, fu#k he was ahead of his time.
Also, wasn't there a fence/railing on the landing spot ready to break your back when Gill did it?

Truly an amazing climb... this picture should illustrate Even More what a ridiculous achievement it was by Gill - subbing a back breaking guard rail for half a dozen pads, and old school shoes for the toe scrunching rubber of today.
Not to belittle the fella on it here... but John Gill truly did it in impeccable style.
(The black n white pic of Sherman sending with his solitary crashpad is also quality)

Yes. The parking lot has changed in size and shape over the years. The guard rail that you see in that photo used to come to the front side of the rock--rather than to the back side, as it is today.
