I am thinking about getting the Drop Zone, I am curious to know what the landing side surface is made of. Their website describes it as: "PU coated 1000D Cordura top sheet." What exactly is that? Most pads have a car seat type-upholstery, is this the same stuff? Thanks for the info.

PU probably means PolyUrathane which adds water resistance, and increases the life of the fabric.

1000D Cordura is similar, or the same material found in backpacks, and other items that use a coarse woven nylon. It is heavy duty, but not quite ballistic nylon toughness...

hey,
the landing surface is just like the outside of the pad..there is no car rug on the landing surface...but the pad is very nice..i have had one for like a year and it has held up great..
