Basement. I have one of those exercise towers for pull-ups, dips and "roman chair" ab exercises. It all hangs from there. I can still use the tower for its many uses as well.

I'm not going to mention names... but one of my regular partners.... stores his trad rack along with his sport draws on a shelf. They are all lined up by size and he even has a spot light on them.

Yes this is sad but true - all my gear is organized from bigest cam to smallest, biggest nut to smallest, biggest tricam to smallest, all draws are neatly stacked. I have 2 potlights i intstalled above the shelf to give a nice lit up effect for when company is over.... Now I just need to find company to invite over.... My name is Kevin and I am a gear freak :(

Shoes and chalk bag are in the trunk of my car just for emergency sake. You know what I mean, see a rock along the road, take a quick climbing break and boulder some. All of my other gear is sorted on different slings and then packed away in my climbing tub.

Fear not, for there is no shame in putting your gear in the spotlight (sometimes literally). As for my own gear, I don't store it, I use it. Go climbing!

I've had 54 days of climbing outdoors this year - given that I am a cubical whore, I'm pleased with that. I'll hit 60 by year-end..... :D

I have a brick wall on the south side of my apartment. It is a "rough" brick design, with many features and textured parts. Enough so that I've worked out a bouldering traverse from the fireplace to the patio doors. Anyway... One of these textures is big enough that I clovehitched a length of 5 mm cord around a horn. My gear hangs from that. It looks nice, I think, but it also can be annoying to be stuck indoors (weather, studying, etc.) and have to look at the rack, knowing I can't go climb that day. I'll post a photo if I can ever get my scanner to work again.

In reply to: i'm surprised no one mentioned everything being in the trunk of their car? You spoke too soon! Except for a quickdraw, a sling and a doval that I am currently playing with (Right hand on mouse, left on biner) all my gear is in my car. Of course the mountains are all snowy and it's freezing outside ( I don't ice climb, so don't get on my case about those excuses), but you never know. It could suddenly become sunny at 70 degrees, and if it does I'll be up he canyon before the school administration can say "Hey, where are you doing? Get to class!" And I gym climb in the winter, but that only need the basics...

In an ideal world, I'd keep all of my gear in the back of my truck. It would be there because, in an ideal world, I would have stopped dreaming, started acting, grown some balls and sold all of the unimportant crap that I had been gathering for the last 33 years. I would have simplified my life down to what I could fit into my truck, leaving just enough room to sleep. I would have quit my job, left my girlfriend, drained my bank account and taken that road trip I've been thinking about for so long. You know, the kind of trip where your only worry is over-staying the 14-day camping limit at J-Tree. Yeah, that's the ideal world - at least for the hardcore wannabe dirtbag climber in me - but the real world is where I am right now and I know the grass is always greener. I'm here at the studio. I'm comfortable and safe and though I'm dreaming of other places, it's hard to give up the stability, security and warmth of life as it is. Perhaps it's not hard to give it up, perhaps it's a lack of courage. I guess that's for me to decide. Either way, here in the real world, and to answer your question - my gear lives in the laundry room. It's neatly organized and hung from hooks and if it could talk, I'm sure it would ask me when we were leaving. Again. Eric

In the garage, in a backpack, next to my kids climbing stuff, in their backpacks, on the shelf next to the stuff that won't fit in the backpacks.
