In reply to: Congrats Girl! What's the job? nothing sexy .. web development - but it will give me a chance to establish myself up here. i'm sure that companies would rather get references from a local company than from some company that they've never heard of.

Charlie haha, you know me too well. ;) i'd love to be a dirtbag climber, but i dont have any gear so i need a job to buy gear and such. once i get a nice rack going, then i'll hit the road and find some good dirt! and, yes .. it means that i'll have to get up early and stay away from rc.com .. but i'm sure that we'll all survive. haha.

Can you do database development..? I have a killer idea for a dirtbag style project, but I don't have any database skillz, since I'm strictly graphics and HTML/JAVA...

cool. java and javascript are nothing alike, so be careful about mix-matching the names. java is fairly complicated and constitutes actually programming. javascript, however, is a scripting language and is amongst the worst of options, imho. as for db experience, i dont have much. i love technology and can make stuff work, but i suck ass at scripting and dont bother approaching actual programming - i'd rather gather the requirements and write the documentation than generate any code. there are other people on the site who actually enjoy it though. you might team up with them, or watch the developers forum to get an idea for who likes db-work and scripting around here.

I've loosely chatted with "data118" about the project, but not as to what it is. I'm considering just posting LIMITED INFO to gain the attention of a few folks that may be into putting this together for fun, and possibly $$$ down the road if all goes well... The concept is killer, and hasn't been done to my knowledge, and indepth searches come up empty. * BTW: I'm fully aware of the differences between Java and JS, but made the mistake in the initial post... Java is a horrific and buggy language that crashes routines routinely, and JS is being taken over by CSS, but still has its place.
