Dean Potter has brought the realm of climbing to a whole new level, particularly crack climbing. he inspired me with his pure approach to climbing.

In life I think the people who have inspired me the most are Alber t Einstein and Mark Twain. Both normal guys but turned their lives into exciting adventures. Also Mother Teresa, Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.

In climbing I think people like Chris Sharma, Tommy Caldwell and Beth Rodden inspire me. This is because like the people mentioned above they were all normal people nothing really exceptional about them. But they became disciplined and trained and 'scent and 'scent and 'scent. Just thinking that there is someone who can climb 5.15, inspires me to climb and train harder!

Plus, the guy climbs like a monkey.

oops . . misread the quote. yes, marcus does climb like a monkey, and he's about my height so i could learn a lot about moving through "reachy" problems by watching him. plus he's got a cute butt. hee hee.

Not really any climber but that nagging voice I hear that tells me that if I fall, I'll die. That has inspried me the most.

Lots of people!

I'll second Layton Kor, especially since I do most of my climbing in Colorado and Utah. The guy nabbed an incredible amount of first ascents of routes that are today considered the most classic around. Even more so, when he started doing it, Colorado climbing was stuck in the mud and his manic energy took it to a whole new level.

Lots of guys from the 70s'--Webster, Wiggins, Dunn, Becker, Erickson, Wunsch, Briggs, etc. etc. etc. I find the exploits of that era really inspirational: free ascents of Jules Verne, Scenic Cruise, the Diamond, etc. A real go-for-broke attitude, true commitment and a sense of adventure. And the modern days reincarnations of the '70s--guys like Mike Pennings, Jonny Copp, the late Cameron Tague.

In my own climbing, a couple of partners who I started climbing with a lot this year, Josh Janes and Chris Weidner--in totally different ways, they've really opened my eyes to new approaches toward and styles of climbing. It's helped my climbing so much to get out, and just talk about climbing with those guys.

not trying to be egotistical, but I feel like I am self inspired as far as climbing. Now that I've gone and stepped in it, lemme 'splain.
I view climbing as a metaphor for my own spiritual journey. Who else could I look to for guidance on my own path? That being said... anyone who is brave enough to belay me is my hero of the moment! 8)

Mike Fischesher
An all-around great guy that taught me everything that I know about climbing. If it wasnt for this man I would probably spend most of my time high or drunk but, thanks to him I spend it doing something a little more meaningful. Besides being a great all-around climber and first ascentionist, he began an outdoor program in Morganton, NC where I live and is pretty much the reason that any climbers come out of Mo-town at all.

oh yeah, rrradam is pretty inspiring too....just to know that you can really climb and smoke on the rock at the same time gave me a new outlook on the sport! Talk about multitasking. Here I thought you could only light up on the ground  . THAT is talent!

I saw this girl on the Discovery Channel, She was very inspireing... and there is a "bendable" rock climbing doll of her that they sell at galyans. I guess she is pretty much pro...I want to say that her name was Tori or something, I really have no clue what her name was. Apparently her parents brought her to South Africa or somewhere when she was young, and she climbed trees with a monkey, and she is really good because of this...also I saw that her armspan is one inch longer than her height(something she developed because of climbing at a young age I guess).

Also I was at a Boy Scout Camp in N.M., and I was climbing for like a day, and the instructors seemed so cool, like it was their life...like that is all they did all day, and they were moving all over the place...I was climbing befor the trip to N.M, but they really got me started.

Also, Messner...
I guess that he is more known for mountaineering, but because that guy did the first ascent of Everest without supplemental o2, he became some sort of demigod to me I guess...his VOX was like 62, If I ever meet him (which I doubt)...I will bow down before him.

I guess for me, I've never really had much inspiration beyond what's inside me. I just love climbing.
