Dude, I'm all giddy and they are just pics I took. If there were pics of me on the front page, I might lose my nut.

In reply to: Hey Wide, I forgot, happy B-day. Pi-rat, that FP pic of me is now my desktop background at work ;-) begining extreme self-absorption in 3-2-1... Don't worry Rob, if it helps I'm obsessed with you too.

If there were pics of me on the front page, I might lose my nut. dude, they're excelent pics, all of them. nice drama to the composition, love how the field of view blurs the ground, as it should. I remember when you snapped that too, my hands were all numb, I couldn't tell if I had a good grip in the crack or not, slapped the screwlinks at the anchor and said "I'm done", and you go "No, you're not! get your ass up here!" or something close to that, so I started the last couple jams and heard the camera go *click*...I remember thinking "wonder what that's gonna look like?"

In reply to: "Climbing Anchors" "More Climbing Anchors" Got both of those too...haven't dipped into 'em yet. Actually, only got the first book. The second is still on order from B&N. Do you know how hard it was to explain to the artsy-fartsy cashier that there was a difference between the two?? Me: "I need to place an order for a book. Two books actually." Cashier: "Name of the book?" Me: "Climbing Anchors by John Long" Cashier: "I don't have anything by that name. I have a Learn to Climb: Climbing Anchors by a John Long though." Me: "Yeah, that's it." Cashier: "And what was the second?" Me: "More Climbing Anchors by John Long." Cashier: *blink blink and lots of punching keys* "We don't have that." Me: "Yes you do, it's on your website. Trust me. " Cashier: "okay, but I'm not showing it." Me: "Try typing it in without the Learn to Climb part." Cashier: "Well, here's a More Climbing Anchors by a John Long. Is that it??" Grrrr. And then, I get to answer the question of my friend when she sees what I'm buying. "Oh my God, there's a whole book on climbing anchors?" And my response, "Two of them actually" People are silly sometimes. K.

Well, the average lay person doesn't understand that climbing anchors are both Art, and Science, requiring nuance and a fine exactitude of execution. One can never know too much about them...

Went into Borders Books last week to purchase the new Alpinist. go up to the register to pay: Cashier: "Oh my god, like, do you actually climb?" Me: "Huh?" Cashier: "I've always wanted to try it." Me: "That's fabulous." Cashier: "How do I get started, do I have to take a class or something?" Me: "Um, can I just have my change?"

Kimmy, Thank god for EMS on that one. Put them on my list, wife went asking, they knew EXACTLY what she meant. Pirate, think that's bad, imagine the grilling I got when I applied for life insurance. Climbing is a "High risk" activity.

Mike, You asked about why the bike was outside! It's a two car garage with so much junk in it that we can't even get one car in it! I've got boxes of junk that have been moved two or three times and never even opened! Can't throw any of it away though, wife would kill me if I did. You know, memories, kids toys, books that we'll never read again, etc. I need a good fire!

Have an "Office Space" New Year! We have this thing called Night Ringing, where the phone rings for everyone, and not just for the specified extension at certain times (i.e. - last week when it was only me and another guy here). This feature was left on, and shirtly after lunch my boss went home for lunch and the phone rang. Not knowing who it was for I decided to answer it and direct the call. Here's the following email conversation when my boss go back: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Call John Doe at SuchandSuch Company 888-888-8888, he called at 12:50" "Why did you not offer him to my voicemail?" "The phones still ring for everyone in the office, so I thought I should answer it. In my experience people would rather talk to a person than leave a voice mail." "In the future, whether the phones are on day or night ringing, if you answer a phone call that is for me, please ask them if they wish to leave a message on my voicemail. This goes for all other people in the office. We have a voicemail system and, although I agree with you that a human voice answering the phone is preferred by many, it is perfectly acceptable to utilize voicemail instead of taking a message." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sooooo....what you are saying is that you agree with my reasoning but do it your way anyway? Gotcha. Whateva...I got him the message, I don't see the problem?
