To the perosn who wrote this post. i live in Wesyt virginna I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I once had a middle school field trip stop and the whole bunch of buggers had hammers and attacked a section of cliff I was on :( . I was sick to my stomch and when I asked the teacher to have them stop he looked at me like I was stealing his car. I just stood there and watched in horror and the kids did not know any better the teacher just was not interested in what I had to say. The one really cool note was a kid took a full swing with a metal handled framing hammer to the rock (it was really hard quartz) and the thing pinged back and he screamed. I had to laugh i was like good for your little punk keep running though my mind.

In reply to:  Morrison bouldering seems to be attracting low lifes. The covariance between the event you related and bouldering seems pretty small to me. What do you mean? Curt

In reply to: BTW dudes: you stick a child you will go to jail. Deservedly so. Yelling is permitted, however, expressing your displeasure verbally in a controlled and intellegent manner will 98 percect of the time do the trick. Yeah, but beating them senseless is a lot more fun. :P Freakin brainless puke sacks.

little kids + small hammers + rockfall-induced trail damage = overreaction or, more likely, CHOSS! if the rock is that chossy, i'd be more worried about what is going to rain down on my head next.

In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: Geology class. - d. That was my thought. Maybe some homeschoolers out for a geology fieldtrip. Chris I have to say, I don't think homeschooler jokes ever get old... they're right up there with midget jokes in my book. Well done. Um, I wasn't making a joke or meaning any disrespect to homeschoolers. I was serious. My cousins were home schooled and that is exactly the type of field trip they would go on. Chris

thatīs precisely the best moment to do handcuff nots on the little bass-turds, after that, put them on the same daisychain anchored on a 3rd bolt, and warn them about moving too much.

Sounds to me they were studying geology. Hacking away at rocks is what people do to collect samples and perhaps, if there is moss, to see the clean rock. Nothing wrong with pursuing knowledge of the world we live in. They also probably didn't know that the rocks they were hammering are used by boulderers. You should have simply explained to them that the rocks are used by climbers and that people want them to be left untouched, otherwise it would affect the quality of the climbing, and then point to them some rocks that they can observe. They were obviously wearing safety goggles, implying that they had some guidance in this activity.

Sorta reminds me of belaying at Sunset Park, when a family walks by & stops to watch. I look away from my climber for an instant & notice a young girl, perhaps 5, standing on my rope. In the interest of the safety of all concerned, I told her loudly: "Please do not stand on the rope". The father was incensed that I shouted at his little darling. Explaining that there was someone's life depending on this rope - not to mention that his rugrat could get hurt - did nothing to change his mind. Damn those inconsiderate rock climbers!!!

You could've educated them, and then everybody would have come out on top.

Ahh, all the anger towards the little tikes! It's not like all of us weren't little bastards at that age, and it's not even to imply that any of us have stopped being little bastards (am I alone in this?). But dumb parents, kill dumb parents. Besides, you could then steal the children and have personal slaves to haul your gear until they get old enough to kick your ass and run away. I've got three right now, it works out well!

A polite explanation of the situation can quitely correct the problem. Plus, the mother goes away with a positive impression of climbers.
