OK! Here it is…

You will need:
5x4 sheet of 1 in. high density foam (about $50 from local foam shop)
5x4 sheet of 3 in. Open cell yellow foam (cheap)
420-denierrip stop nylon about 10 feet
High strength thread.
Old backpack or webbing
Compression straps
Industrial sewing machine will make life easier, but you can sew it by hand.

1. I think it’s pretty obvious what you are going to do. Make a bag to put the foam in. Make sure it’s the right size. Leave one end open to put in foam in/out (Easier said then done)

2. Sew on compression straps (to hold pad together when folded, and to hold foam in)

3. Razor the straps off that old backpack (or use webbing) and sew them on.

4. Put in the foam, remember to use the High Density foam on top of open cell!

This cost me about $90 cdn to make and i put in about 5 hours of work. It turned out great!

Crash On,
Jeremy

This is pretty ghetto, but there used to be an old mattress under the YoValley problem Bachar Cracker.

i just use bubble wrap. they sound cool when you land on them, and when you hurt your ankle, you have something to play with.

greatgarbonzo wrote a great Article about this, but it's still under construction, as he wants to add images.

It was mistakenly approved a couple months ago. It is very detailed. (I think you read it Jeremy, as you've paraphrased him.)

yo, I've got you all beat. The best, cheapest, and most ghetto crash pad is a couch cushion wrapped in duct-tape.

Wooaa wooa, cool down B_G. rrradam didnt accuse you of plagerism. He said:
Quote: as you've paraphrased him.

Paraphrase is when you research other documents helpful to writing your research paper. If the information it contains is really good in detail that you just cant pass it up, you read it, then rewrite the info in your own words. Almost every single paper ever written for school (HS and college) has at least some paraphrasing in it because if we didnt, we would be leaving out some really good facts.

Where did I say that ??? I wasn't accusing you of anything.

Mellow out Jeremy.

And I thought his was a 3 ply design... Don't know, as I just scanned through it. I have a Cordless.

Uno problamo dudes
we are not told what kind of high decity foam to use. i recomend 2 pound foam (pressure rating), if you use 4 or up it can be like hitting a concrete floor with a car blanket on it.i also recomend using two thiner layers of high decity foam, (if you can do it with out ripping the foam) this is easier for floding purposes.
And "yellow foam' is not very discriptive. try going to a furniture shop that sells repairing suppplies. they'll have a selection of stiffnesses in foam.
i think that everyone should use their own brain and knowledge before using BG's method. just peaking inside a factory mat is not effective research. my dad is an enginer, i'll tlk to him about it.

first of all, redzit, I like that name

Second, he is right! Just cuz i made this, and I havnt gotten hurt doesnt mean it's safe. I'm uselly pretty good at designing stuff but if I screw up thats my fault. I will not be held responcible if anyone gets hurt using my crappy design, or any variation of my design. For more detail, you may send me your creditcard # and date, and I will bill you accordingly depending on the amount of beta i give you.

I hope you enjoyed your flight, thank you for landing on Beyond_gravity crashpads.
Jeremy
