Hi,
I have been meaning to invest in shoes, and I wasn't sure whether I should get shoes with laces or straps. What is the difference? Is there a better fitting for laces than straps? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

I prefer velcro over laces b/c of convenience, but there is much more to consider when buying a shoe.

Search the forums, shoes are one of the hottest topics on the site. pm me if you want my preferences/noobie shoe advice.

Lace-up shoes fit better but take longer to put on.

Velcro shoes are quick and easy to put on, but usually don't fit as snugly, especially after they stretch.

Slippers are supposed to be easy to put on, but if you get a pair with a snug fit, they're not quite so easy to slip on.

Try them all and see what you like. Your first pair of shoes shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Btw, 'invest' is probably the wrong word to use because some of my friends' shoes last only 3 months.

just dont get slippers.

other than that, choose the shoe that fits you best.

like said previously, laces offer more fit customizing but are a bit slower to put on, but that would only be a setback if you mostly boulder. on most sport routes you have enough time to quietly tie the laces.

Some slippers are pretty cool.

I really like my Sportiva Cobras.
