I know that Boreal is still in business but I can't seem to find a dealer between Idaho and Nevada that even stocks them anymore. Does anyone know what's up with the company? I'm told that the Stingers are longer made. In its place is the Stingma(?). What up.

You shouldn't buy boreal shoes, thier rubber is worthless. Buy some 5.10's you won't regret it.

Boreal rubber doesn't stack up to 5.10 or Vibram rubber but the shoes are among the best made on the market. 5.10's have a reputation for falling apart. If you want a pair of Boreals either deal with the rubber until it's time for a resole or if you have the extra money get them resoled in the sticky rubber of your choice right away. Some people have a foot that Boreals seem to fit better then any other shoes.

I have a pair of vectors that have their second resole of 5.10 rubber and second pair of shoelaces. A good marriage, 5.10 rubber rules but the shoes fall apart, Boreal rubber sucks but the shoes are well made.

I've had shoes with Vibram rubber. My pair of Katanas fell apart after two months of use (3X a week). It was the shortest live of any shoe I've ever owned. I've been rockin 5.10 for a long time and have only had one pair that was a dud. They also fit my foot perfectly. I can't see how anyone would prefer Vibram to Stealth rubber. I still have my boreal diablos, the first pair of shoes I bought (6 years ago). They are well crafted but I just can't deal with fusion rubber.

My friend is the one looking for Boreal, I've always used Stingers but I just bought a pair of Anasazi Southwests and they rock! Yeah, when I resole my Stingers I'll put stealth rubber on them but they are good shoes. I had a pair that lasted through 5 resoles! Anyway, I was just curious what was going on with their marketing lately.

I just resoled my Boreal Pyros with Stealth and together they make the perfect shoe. I am going to send my other pair of pyros in to get resoled in stealth once i have the extra cash. As for where to get them look on-line. Just search for the kind you want:
boreal pyros cheap
I got my friend a pair for $60, an amazing deal resole them in stealth and they are still cheaper than the anasazis.

I have a pair of boreal Stigner, and I love them. However, I'm pretty excited about my new pair of miura (I'm waiting for them, I ordered them from MEC)...
And about the stingma, I tried them on, and they seem to kick ass. Same fit than the stinger, except that they do fit much more better at the heel and the stigner. It's a mix between the stigner and the matrix. ;-)

stop whinning about rubber!!! people have climbed harder than anyone on this forum ever will in every major shoe brand... obivious rubber isn't the issue of why you fall...
the new boreal usa is still somewhat in its start up phase, working on gettin dealers back and what not. i believe e-boreal.com has contact info for the new boreal though so you could grab that and just call them direct.

They are 147.99 at La Cordée, and 148$ at MEC... For now there's only the montreal store who has them at this price, but I talked with the sales person and he told me that soon all the MEC stores will sell the miura at this (low) price ;-)
But for now, the website still announce them at 199$

All of my shoes have been Boreal, strictly because of the fit - nothing else seems to be quite as wide. I've had the Diablos, the Pyros, and the Zens (my favorite so far) and my only real complaint with all of them is the crappy rubber. It's just not that sticky. It does ok on real rock, but in the gym on textured paint it does nothing.
From what I've heard, if you get a pair of Boreal's resoled in C4 rubber they're very luxurious. 8)
Anyhow, check out www.sportextreme.com they carry some Boreal styles, for really cheap, but you of course can't try them on first.

Boreal Ace: 9 resoles
5.10 UFO: 4 resoles
Boreal Matrix: original rubber
Ace are great Grade IV crag and alpine
UFO my favorites, but blew out top leather and stitch seams and right shoe rotated (hard to explain). But.... can't find this model anymore.... seems like only the Ascent are available but I don't want that tampon beneath my heel.......
Matrix, liteweight and super sensitive.... rubber seems for shit for smearing (like what everybody else already said 'bout Boreal rubber)...... can't wait to resole 'em....
