My ratcheting DOT truckstrap is sticky and needs to be lubed, how do I do this and what kind of lube do I use?

Isn't it great that this is a slacklining forum, but that question is not off-topic?!

Not quite sure to take the thread seriously or not but what the heck....

Not exactly the answer but has good tips on inspecting and maintenance:

My prefered method: spray lithium grease - cheap ($2 a can and it'll last a LONG time), effective, easy to apply, longer lasting, cleans up easily and doesn't leave stains in fabric. Any generic oil/lubricant will work, but the lithium grease lasts longer. Hit the moving parts, work the handle a bit until satisfied with action, clean up webbing spool. You'd be suprised how much better they will perform than from the factory.

Just what I found works best from 15 years of working on cars and in machine shops.
