Was going to do grade IV with Angus on Saturday. Got up at 3 after staying
up too late. Felt like shit but managed to get out the door on time, 3:30.
Scheduled to meet at Yosemite Junction at 5 am.

So it's 4:15 and I'm almost to Clements when the phone rings. It's Ang...
sick.

I wish him well, hang up the phone and swallow the ashes of the climb. I was
so devastated I just gavce up on rock climbing at all.

Drove home, swapped ropes for skis and jetted up to Carson Pass. Got two
round trips in and still had time for sunset bouldering at the parking lot.

Damn.

We'da torn it UP!

Had fun anyway. Cali is a great state for this.

You've got it all wrong, Dingus. A big reason people tell me they don't like CA is "I've just got to have 4 seasons." It's best not to disabuse such people with stories like yours. Not only that, CA is full of Okies & Latinos, and neither speaks English. Plus there are earthquakes and taxes & lots of other reasons no one who's not already in CA should ever go there. Oh, yeah, the crowds: don't forget to mention the crowds. And traffic, New Agers and Liberals. CA sucks, really.
