What's the safest way to remove a sticker from a car window without causing damage to the window itself? I have one I need to take off but don't want to futz with it til I know I can get it all off without scraping the back windshield up. Any suggestions?

Fresh razor blade, followed by white gas (coleman fuel) applied with a rag to remove the remaining adhesive. After the adhesive is completely removed, use Windex to remove any traces of the white gas.

* This is assuming you don't have a tinted film covering your windows. If you do, then you should contact a glass or tinting shop and pay them a few $$$ to assume all liability and risk!

I'll second this.

I just don't want it on there anymore.

Tom - yeah, my back windshield is tinted so thanks for that advice. That's one of the reasons I posed this here. I don't know much about cars and didn't want to eff up my window.

The tint should be on the inside of the window and shouldn't be an issue with whatever method you use to remove it. Short of a blow torch. I'm assuming the sticker is on the outside of the window, correct?

As the undisputed King of Stickers (at least until this weekend when TucsonAlex officially de-thrones me), I hearby condone the above noted advice to use a razor blade and white gas or alcohol.

I have to concour with those that said fresh razor balde. My mother did construction cleaning, which included removing all sorts of things from windows, such as factory stickers, and paint. Make sure you have something to lube the razor blade, otherwise you run the risk of scratching the glass. I would lube it with soapy water. Any leftover adhesive residue can be removed by WD-40 and a rag as someone else suggested.

You can substitute Goo Gone for the white gas. It's made from orange peel extract, so it smells nice.

Yes, but can you burn it in an MSR?

I concur with the razor blade but must also caution BE CAREFUL!!! It's incredibly easy slice all or part of your finger off. Push AWAY from you, not towards.

Hoping you have all your fingers intact

Non-acetone nail polish remover and a razor blade. doesn't hurt the paint if it runs or the window.

Worked in a body shop in high school. We used a hairdryer to heat the glue in stickers and vinyl vehicle graphics (think aged and crusty pinstripe). Comes right off. No left overs. No alcohol or fuel.
