most bike lubes work good, such as white lightning. Just keep it off the slings.

I just washed my rack of cams. They were very sandy after my trip to Zion. I washed them in plain h20 and then dried them very well. I used a bristle brush to get the coil springs nice and cleaned out. They all cleaned up very well and the action is better also. Some are now actually squeaky clean. I wanted to know if anyone uses lube on thier cams? What kind and where do you apply it. I have a full set of matolious fcu's and some tcu's and would like to lube the trigger sliders. I am thinking the good synthetic lube I use for the shifter cables on my MTN bike would be a good choise. So if all you trad guru's could chime back and put in your advice I will filter through it and make the call.

Thanks to all who reply.

If this has already been a post could you give me the link so I can read the old posts.

Don't use anything with oil in it, even thwe smallest trace can get on a sling and be absorbed over a large area. No telling what amount of invisible damage it can do.

Teflon spray lube is the only type to use. Over here I buy stuff meant for use in a particular type of woodshop machine, but I think one of the cam makers does their own version of it. Teflon is a trade name for PTFE, or polytetraflouroethylene. 8^)

White Lightning.
It's wax based so it dosn't stay wet and attract more dirt.

And yeah, don't get any on the sling.

I use the metolius lube. No problems, at least none that I can see.

I use Metolius Cam Lube. Mostly because I somehow ended up with three bottles.

the only lube out there I will ever use for anything is McLube.

Buy it at a marine store.

Far better than any wax, oil, or teflon product.

It's a dry lubercant, so it drys hard and clean, never attracts dirt, and will stay on your cams until you're in your grave.

We use it religiously in laser sailing, on absolutly EVERYTHING. if it moves, it gets coated in mclube.

In case you are curious, White Lightning makes the cam lube Metolius markets and distributes. I don't think the formulation is changed.

I have used it and it worked fine. BD cams have those big end plates, and you won't want to get them coated or they can get a little gummy.
