I heard that there's an annual Mule Days (?) in Bishop during Memorial Day weekend (http://www.muledays.org/) . Does anyone know what the camping situation will be like at Owens that weekend? thanks. Mickey

Plenty of camping at the "Pinion site" as detailed in Marty Lewis' guidebook, nice area, no facilities. Around 6500 feet. The camping near Bishop may be full, but it's all around 4000 feet anyway.

Whoa, climbing in ORG at the end of May!? I hope you like to get up early and be sure to bring plenty of water. It's already going to hit 90 deg. this week in Bishop.

Do you know if Horton Creek campground will be crowded? 90 huh? I didn't think it would be that hot. Maybe we'll go to Williamson instead. Will see what the concensus will be. Mickey

even during mule days i have been able to camp at millpond, the pay site with showers, rv hookups and laundry(not big with climbers but you would think that the mule folk would want somewhere nice to park the winnie) so i would imagine that between all the campsites around bishop you'll find something org gets damn hot for mule days, especially any dark rock that spends time in the sun (thats all of it btw), som days you may want to as high as possible (elevation wise) there are some interesting looking bolted routes at little eygypt for example sitting about 6300ft? so its usually cooler, light granite too. have fun go watch the chariot races some night, not as cool as ben hur, but what else are you going to do other than climb -j
