First off, I'm not some stary-eyed "Sharma Worshipper", but do you think those guys like Graham, Sharma, and the Hubers, or any others out there doing crazy hard stuff, train alot? By training I mean anything besides climbing, like wieght lifting. I'm not about to start training or anything I was just curious if thats whats necesary to send hard stuff.

Some do and others don't. Some people are born with ability to climb every day and not have to do any 'training' to stay at the top of the game while others have to work much harder to get where they are. From what I hear.... Sharma and Caldwell would be good examples of the two types of climbers.

I would say that climbing hard several days a week constitutes training. HIT training, campusing, pull ups, and just hard climbing/bouldering is training.

In reply to: From what I hear.... Sharma and Caldwell would be good examples of the two types of climbers. I've seen pictures of Caldwell's garage/work shed. He has a full campus board and hang boards. In one of the pictures he's playing on the campus board. so i'd guess Caldwell trains somewhat. But shamra, check the interviews, he doesn't train with some sort of schedule, but he climbs all the time and is natural gifted and has been climbing for over ten yrs, so he's put a lot of hours in LEARNING. Its not all about getting stronger, but about getting better. Look at Fred Nicole The dude has been pulling V14 for nearly a decade. He's past he's past his young years, were he would be doing one finger one arm pulls(as in MOS 3 video), He's a ton smarter and his skill makes up for what his age has taken away from raw power. Bottemline, you wanna get to higher grades, you need to build strength over time, while learning technique.
