I love some of the heated dialogues that go on, but I have two favorites JT512 and Curt. Some of these idiots just need their ass handed to them and these two do it in style. I thought that it might be fun to start a thread that consists of the best ass handings. Here are the series of quotes that inspired: Nolan14:
In reply to: I was thinking of taking nylon cord and running it through two biners a few hundred times and tying it, maybe not for climbing but whatever. Would it work? Seems pretty solid. Curt:
In reply to: I can save you both time and money. First off, nylon is expensive and a "few hundred times" through the biners is major overkill. Instead, go buy some regular clothesline at K-mart. Their regular shelf brand will be fine. Cut this line into two foot lengths and connect two carabiners with the clothesline using any knot you have heard of. (hint: tying the line with a bow is handy in case you want to undo this quickdraw later.) Hopefully, while you were still at K-mart, you were wise enough to score some of those key chain biners at the checkout counter. Use those as well for your draws, because regular biners are way overrated and too costly to boot. After you have assembled a few of these things, go climbing and have fun. Heck, run it out and give your new draws a good workout. Nolan 14:
In reply to: Don't be so stuck up when a 13 year old tries to ask a question, which if unanswered may lead to a poor decision causing his end. Be helpful, for once, gojd! Curt:
In reply to: Anyone that stupid should die. I didn't make the rules, read Darwin. By the way, what the hell is a "gojd"?

In reply to: In reply to: This picture sucks. First of all the climber displays extreme foot-faggotry here and secondly, he isn't even doing it right. Hahahahaha. Curt see. people do too say helpful things on this site. From a thread that had me LMAO

Good god, they do come up with some classics. Wish I had time to dig up a few others but stick around a few hours -- they let one fly nearly every day. Ed

This may be my personal best......to our beloved Lox, who was posting as "headcrack" at the time:
In reply to: headcrak, "TR is for sissies?" and "you are what you eat?" What the hell is that supposed to mean? I guess it does explain why a bunch of us here are pu$$ies though, and why you are a dick. Curt

That's definitely the best one that I've seen so far! I started putzing around on this site toward the end of Lox's presence. I feel like I missed a lot of good stuff... Oh well. At least I got that highlight!

I think I gotta nominate myself for this piece of work.
In reply to: In reply to: I think it is probably mere infatuation. I remember the "Sex with Whom" thread and you were pretty much in love with anything in a skirt. :) Curt Don't hate, Curt, you were young once too........................if you can remember back that far. He who takes the offensive should not be defenceless.

Best ass handing ever? No question: Refer to the thread "Hatred is a seed", which discusses the Israel/Palestine situation. Bigga hands an enormous plate of ass with all the trimmings to: Curt Bluto TGreene Overlord Bumblie Thegraytradster And about half a dozen other users including me. It's devastating and can't be debated or refuted either. Masterly.

In reply to: Betsy, you idiot. Curt is indeed quite knowledgeable about these subjects. On the other hand, you have almost a perfect track record of being wrong. The quote above shows you to be a classic example of what Kruger and colleages describe in their research on incompetents [1]: --begin quote-- People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it. -Incompetent individuals, compared with their more competent peers, will dramatically overestimate their ability and performance relative to objective criteria. -Incompetent individuals will suffer from deficient metacognitive skills, in that they will be less able than their more competent peers to recognize competence when they see it–be it their own or anyone else's. -Incompetent individuals will be less able than their more competent peers to gain insight into their true level of performance by means of social comparison information. In particular, because of their difficulty recognizing competence in others, incompetent individuals will be unable to use information about the choices and performances of others to form more accurate impressions of their own ability. --end quote-- -Jay I can't remember the context of this. It may have something to do with routes you've "sent" on toprope.
