In reply to: In reply to: trad and sport already are cooler. The only reason why more people do not do trad is because it is more dangerous and expenisve. Exactly. They don't have the nuts. Curt Oh, man....too much. When I laugh this hard in my office, iI try to stifle it by holding it in, which sounds weird, and my secretary looks in to see if I'm ok. LOL.

OK, I got suckered, but, while I'm here, are you just a complete moron, or what? I sure as H3LL hope trad is never as cool as sport or bouldering, bacuse that would mean a lot of fecking idiots running around remote areas trashing the wilderness and screwing up my adventures. Now you can put you head back in there, along with your thumb, and continue as you were.

See my bumper sticker "trad is rad, always was, always will be" Bouldering has its place i suppose, but personally i like to be good for hundreds of feed of climbing, not just 3 moves.

None of it is really cool. to be truly cool, try motorcycle racing without a helmet, or bungee jumping with a long rope.

Quote sportwanker: Whoa! Hit a nerve. (major nerve and again welcome to the site. I was not trying to start a debate over which form is legit and which is for the nad-less. (on that note, I do all three) (Oops!!!) Rather, I was trying to get insight into how each community gets its vibe. Why is Bouldering COOL and the others not? Grab someone off the street and take them to the scene of each activity. (you might want to try posting again and asking something more like what is the normal traits for each area, you will still get some opinionated people thinking everyone somehow needs wants to read their opinion but you might get some answers)

In reply to: Its funny that so many dip.s.h.i.t.s think trad climbing doesn't involve pulling hard moves, and are so short-sighted to not see the inevitable benfits each discipline gives to the other. It all boils down to motivation and ego. Why be a trad climber? Why be a sport climber? Why be a boulderer? Why be an aid climber? You aint s_hit until you're a CLIMBER. Good point, I'll bet Lynn Hill pulled some pretty sick moves on the Changing Dihedrals pitch on the Nose.

this reminds me of the animosity between different types of cycling. Aid=downhill mountain biking(lift service) Trad=mountain biking Sport=road biking bouldering=riding your bike with training wheels later

 This post is hilarious! Comments from a newbie: I have been climbing for a little over a year now. In my humble opinion, it doesn't matter which type of climbing you do as long as you're having a good time doing it. My personal fave is Trad! All that cool gear. Plus you get so focused while placing gear that it is truly amazing. Sport and TR are exciting as well. Never really bouldered outside of the gym. For me, nothing beats a long trad multi-pitch to get the adrenilin/fear factor going. Although, I have free-solo'd a twenty foot rock that had me wetting my pants!

Bouldering is fun, and so is sport and trad, but for those of us with something dangeling between our legs, free soloing is the best and most pure form of climbing.
