hey guys, i'm from texas but am planning to make a trip to florida soon, it's mainly to visit the keys, but i was just wondering if there are any good climbing spots in the area, or even along the way (i.e. mississippi, alabama, etc).

where would you recommend i look to find more information about any climbing in the area?

The highest point in Florida is a landfill.

Tells you something about the climbing.

I have the misfortune of having moved to Florida from Minnesota. There are several good gyms in the state along with, believe it or not, good climbers (am I one of those?). Anyway, yes there's not much climbing here. I believe that Alabama is supposed to have some fantastic climbing, but I don't know where. I'm just learning.

The good thing is that the beaches are beautiful and my wife looks great in a swimsuit (DOWN BOY!).

Hope that helps.

The best climbing in Florida is probably indoors...

if your route takes you through birmingham you might consider stoping and bouldering at horse pens 40. i have never been there in the peak of summer but have heard that it is nasty humid and hot though. there is info in the routes section

what part of climbing in the south in summer isn't hot and nasty?

hp40 would be ok except your're going to slip on the slopers. Rope up at gak... Sandrock. During the week it's not bad.

Anybody climbed at Cheaha?

I know of a few sinkholes that will shred your hands.
