In reply to: Hardcore Toproper/Bad at Approaches: Bruises all over front of knees, none on the back, theighs, or upper arms. (This may be from "using the knees" instead of the feet on climbs and approaches.) I have so been put in my place. K.

And then we can link this to another thread. Is there a preference for active or passive camming devices?

The bruises can be a bit of a negative, but the positives more than make up for it. Women climbers are usually strong, fit, adventurous, and have great overall attitudes. A few bruises from playing too hard? Big deal....

Why should a strong woman care what boys think of her bruises? All climbers have them, regardless of gender. So women climbers are supposed to have smooth perfect legs while the guys can be as banged up as they want? That kind of question just makes the gender gap all the larger. For goodness sakes, just climb hard and any guy worth a shit won't care what your legs look like.

I used to date a girl that would get gigantic bruises on her knees from offwidths and chimneys. It was sickening to look at. But on the other hand, she was out there cranking right next to me, which was more than a little endearing. And besides, I didn't look at the knees so much.

[quote="jcshaggy"]A woman climber with bruises on her legs shows that she is committed to climbing and is willing to put up with discomfort to climb a route-that could possibly be my dream woman!!!I dont know any where I come from. I guess you are looking in the wrong places then, I know lots of women wo climb hard.

I agree with gds...I think the "what women need" list by Harvey is a little outdated. They're not bad needs I suppose but I don't rank them all at the top: 1. Affection - you get what you give 2. Conversation - actually sometimes I like the quiet 3. Honesty and openness - yea, doesn't everyone? 4. Financial support - Nah, I did that on my own (that's why I can play so much now) 5. Family Committment - if that means that my family has to ski and climb with me...sure :) More important (to me at least) 1. To see my sons grow into amazing men (credit to them and their parents) 2. Respect in my choice in what to do (professionally or personally) 3. 50/50 friends (friends that will actually listen half the time...I'm usually the "listener") 4. And as for bruises? Well I will always like the fact that after all these years, hubby still looks like he wants haul me off and ravage me...and usually does  5. Acceptance that I am completely NOT domestic.

personally, i find a woman's ability to bruise me, with her wit, much hotter than her own actual contusions. i am a total sucker for a smart girl who can't stand me. [George] "she just loathes me so much... it's irresistable"[/George]

So, what we got here is a true confessional. We have the guy that likes: the bruised girl. the unbruised girl, the girl that can't cook. the girl made of acerbic wit. the girl that hates you. And the always popular girl that loathes you. You all must be climbers -- you S&M freaks! hehehe.

In reply to: If she's hot and climbs hard, Yes. "hot" and "climbs hard" are SO very subjective and random around here!
