Hey, Does anyone have good beta on bouldering at the Gunks? This will be our first trip there. We only have 2 days to explore, so we're trying to be effiecient in our planning. I heard Peter's Kill is prime real estate for bouldering. We're looking for nice moving V0 - V6's. Roofs are a plus. Any beta will help. Thanks, Steve Judge

I find that p'kill is super hard for all the grades... you are better off hitting the carriage road for quality and quantity IMO.

I'd agree that the carriage road has the highest concentration of "classics" in the gunks. I find Peterskill a much more relaxing place, however, and don't find any difference in the grades (gunks bouldering grades are usually a digit or two soft compared to hueco). If you want roofs, bring your trad gear. If that's not going to happen, jefe in pkill, gill's pinch, doug's roof, the dragon variations and of course the buddha variations (all on the carriage road) are worth doing. Keep a low profile if you camp at slime or the DEC campground. I live a couple miles from the cliff, so let me know if you'd like a tour.

Here's a vid clip of Baby Hole, part of the Trapps Boulders (one of the most popular bouldering areas). It's near the Boxcar boulder. Yeah, BoulderGal can get excited 8^) .

All, Thanks for all the info. The video clip was awesome! Any more from the gunks? Tico, We'll be in town October 12th and 13th. Not sure where we will be focusing our attentions yet though but will take the posted beta into account. Thanks again, Steve Judge
