I'd appreciate any info you can share on camping facilities near Boulder and Eldorado Canyons. What I know now is: Golden Gate State Park (kinda far), Kelly Dahl (don't really know anything about it) and Boulder Mountain Lodge (visited their website). Any other options? Thanks!

yep, for true. It's always been an issue for travelling climbers coming to Boulder - there just ain't no place close to camp.

Is this a conspiracy fomented by the hoteliers in Boulder?

It's total BS around here. You can't even drive up a canyon and park of the side of the road on National Forest Land without getting hassled. All the turnouts are marked with "No Parking from Dusk to Dawn" signs. I guess it is a good way to keep the riff raff out. I suppose you could always get a sensible one bedroom condo for 200 grand. A steal really. All the park benches on pearl street are taken too. The trustafarians laid claim to them in the late 70's, and have bequeathed them to their dread-locked progeny. First come first serve bro. It's dog eat dog around here. Welcome to the Republic of Boulder.

Interesting. Thanks for the background. And all because Mork and Mindy was set there? Is that the reason?

I used to live up the canyon from Boulder in Nederland and there is great camping up there that is very secluded. Boulder Canyon is full of great climbs that are typically less crowded than Eldo as well. If you follow the canyon up to Neddy from B-town there are great places to camp up there near the Moffet Tunnel.
