Does anyone know where to get a written guide for White Rock Overlook. BTW, that's near Los Alamos, New Mexico. THanks, David

Are you just talking about the climbs at White Rock? There used to be guide, Sport Climbing New Mexico that is long out of print. It would be fairly accurate as from what I remember that area was about as developed as it was going to get. Theer is not a whole lot of climbs there. You should be able to go any weekend and have the locals point you around.

White Rock overlook has 40 or so sport climbs now. But, the only online guide I found is missing the original pictures so I can'tell where on the face the climbs are. Oh well, I'll keep asking around.

David, I believe the Falcon Guide "New Mexico & Texas Rock Climbing" outlined the White Rock area as well. Tracy

Climbed there in '98 with out a guide. Hiked around and found what we could. Didn't find much. A guide would have been worth while..... doh!

Hey D ~ :D Just took a road trip through that area and noted 'Taos Mountain Outfitters', 114 S Plaza, still had over a dozen copies on the shelf of this out of print Falcon guide. Their number is 505-758-9292. It does have the info you need. I also managed to get the last copy of a single sheet guide of routes for "Potrillo Cliffs" by Gary Clark, which is also in the same area. The forest park visitors cntr had it on the counter. If you can't find it & want me to fax it -- let me know. G. Clark didn't leave any contact info. Cheers - Kirra

Kirra, I'd love to have a copy of the Portrillo Cliffs guide you mentioned. I don't have access to a fax machine, but if you could email me a scan of it, I would really appreciate it. My email is drbeagle@aol.com. If you don't have a scanner, don't worry about it. Thanks for offering. David

I checked the pdf for Potrillo Cliffs at this website and did a quick route compare. Author same. Pdf copy seems updated, more routes. Has a nice overhead as well as full colored pics with route overlay (my copy is only ruff sketches). The directions also seem better. I drove around the neighborhood 4x's -- cause the exact house address for trail access not given, but it's in the pdf..! David -- print out this doc and yer "golden" maan ... I'm gonna do same to update. Thanks for the link Mike..! ~phx~
