Does anybody know of (or want to share) any other bouldering areas in the Ottawa/Gatineau area besides Hospital boulders and that manky chunk of rock at Hogsback?

Please share, I don't think I can stand falling on the used rubbers all over the ground at the Hospital boulders anymore. :x

Hey dude - wish I could help - I haven't been back there in three years or so...

I used so builder a little back home - otherwise I had a little nook on the gatineau river I would crank on regularily.

Do I know you?

Take Air,

Adam

There's lot's of boulders in the Gatineau Park, you just have to explore... the best areas I've been to are: the Western Cwm (200m west of North Wall), and the Western Chalet cliffs (lots of hard stuff).

See the local guidebook for more info.

Have fun!

there's pretty decent bouldering at the shrine and at the penguin boulder in the gatineau park. the shrine has about 60 established problems, and the penguin boulder has 10 problems from v0-v6. directions to both and a guide can be found on drtopo.com. enjoy!

There's also supposed to be pretty good stuff out around Calabogie. Evan was working on a topo but since he's moved to BC I don't think we'll be seeing it anytime soon, if ever.

Anybody else got some useful info on Calabogie they'd be willing to share?

As it is, I still have plenty to work on at the Shrine. Thanks Toivo.

Hey Guys,

Luckily for all of you, the weather has royally crapped out this last couple of days in Squamish and Vancouver. So, Monday night I dragged out the laptop and started typing. The first draft is done. All I have to do is draw a map. The map is going to be by hand, mainly because computers irritate me to begin with.

I'm hoping to mail something to Coyote's early next week. And yes, there are some photos of the boulders.

Sorry for the delay, but sweet merciful crap, things just went nuts in the three weeks before and after the move.

How's the weather in Ottawa these days?

Hey Evan,

Topo. Sweet.

Weather's been decent here with some exceptions. I was out at Western CWM on Sunday, and just as we were roping up for a warmup on the 5.8 trad at Colonel Buckets, we got dumped on (rain, that is). Damn shame since I really wanted to get on the short sport route right next to the 5.8 (5.11-?). We whipped over to Down Under to see if it was any better but it looked pretty soggy up around the anchors on pretty much everything in our range. So we went to Coyote. It apparently didn't rain at all in Ottawa.

Hope the weather improves for you out there.

Hey all,

The guide is finished, and was mailed out to Jody yesterday. Check into the gym on Tuesday or Wednesday, and there should be some copies behind the desk. I would have sent it electronically, but due to my ignorance with respect to anything technological, the photos took up so much room I couldn't compress the file enough to actually e-mail it.

I'll write a bit more on this later today. If anyone has any questions, post up.

Respects,
Evan

there's a topo circulating for a new area behind the cjep in the park. there's a copy posted at VR. apparently there are about 60 established problems, with projects in the v-6-7 range- cherrypicking. I haven't been there yet, but prez says it's pretty good.

festival at the shrine next Saturday - Oct 16. come on out!
