Yeah if you want to fall asleep. If you want to get psyched to climb, these are things I've been getting amped to lately:

Hendrix
Ministry
Faith No More
Verve Remixed 1&2
Propellerheads
Underworld

WTF does this have to do with TRAD climbing?
I think this is in the wrong forum.

Get thee to community.

I can only stay in community for a short time before getting this really
hideous rash......
I also start experiencing some serious "post rage" (kinda like road rage
but worse)
same thing happens with the beginners forum except I start frothing at the
mouth and muttering "omigod you people are sooooo gonna die"

Hey rockdildo, chill out! Get your gear, go to your local crag, listen to Bob Marley on the way, and be skankin' all day long. In all my years of climbing I have found this: During a climb music will invariably get stuck in your head, so why not make it music that is positive, has a good beat, you can sing along with, and reflects a connection with nature? For me, its Bob, but you know, whatever flips your skirt.

the song i play once i hit the parking lot, park and bust out a smoke is:::::::::IRON MAIDEN'S RUN TO THE HILLS.....very appropriately themed...

while climbing, i'll often start singing reggea or other rock that sounds good when just "sung"....very relaxing......like mainly topics about "ZEN and CLIMBING" i find music does the same....since i'm a newbee to leading trad, when ever i get in a spot that i'm having trouble protecting (even though its easy and i can run it out, i don't think that, trying to get a good habbit of protecting before climbing) i just mellow out by singing......songs like stairway to heaven(and other zeppellin), the chillies, etc etc etc..just that mellow sounding singing....that what i do.....helps me remember some of the tricks i have racked up and then i can drop in the pro...

of course me "LEAVING THE PARKINGLOT" music is always VERY loud and heavy....cus i need to stay awake after long day of climbing and I"M always driving....so metallica, fear factory, SOAD, RATM, etc etc etc etc (most of my fav metal bands....but no opeth or nin....too mellow....good but as good as it is...its too well flowing and will put me out....so crank the Coal Chamber on the way home (i don't give a fuck, i;m driving, my vehicle, my music!)

Marley is awesome. Any Marley is good, but my climbing favorite is Damien Marley. Good stuff.

Very cool. Marley is the way to go... I don't think he really flips my skirt though :o

Not climbing, but relating to stuck in the head-

3 days through a 5 day pack trip, realized my brain was going through every Cowboy Junkies album, in order. Musta been the altitude or something.

And after seeing Touching the Void "brown girl in the ring, tra la la la la...." won't go away, it was part of my daughters "favorite" educational videocassette.

Back to the topic: Jazz, bluegrass or old New Order!

A little old rock,
a la AC/DC or Led Zepplin, or anything else. Just pop it in about 10 or so minutes till you get to the climb and get pumped! works like a charm for me and my crew.

Well, I enjoy listening to some: Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, VNV Nation, Apotygma Bezerk, Prodigy while ICE Climbing. Good Beat, fast paced, and it sets a good ICE Mood. I suggest you look into these artists.

What's wrong with all of you? I don't see Pink Floyd on here anywhere!! They obviously, and without any competition, are the best climbing music out there. Led Zeppelin (one of my all-time favorite bands, which I am delighted to see on here a few times) is a distant second. No one comes close to Pink Floyd though...no one.

Imagine working your way up some sick-ass alpine line while listening to Echoes or Shine On...oooo it gives me goosebumps! I particularly like those tracks, The Wall-Live in Berlin, Atom Heart Mother, Divisio....well damn, they really don't have anything that is out of place in the mountains.

Led Zep has some pretty sweet climbing tunes too. Particular favorites are No Quarter (live version is the best), In My Time of Dying, and pretty much anything off of the "How the West Was Won" album.

When it starts getting sketchy or I start to get spooked, I usually croon Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles, calms me right down.

Rock on!
