Hello all,

I am writing a paper for school on slacklining and thought that maybe this board could help me out. It is due at the EOM.

What I am looking for -

- History - Why, what when etc - anything would be cool/helpful how has this method of climbing sport evolved?
- Pictures of setups, basic to advanced - random stuff would be cool too!
- Pictures of basic to advanced moves (you could be a star) I will have to have your consent to put these into my presentation - again anything you could help out on would be rockin.
- Progressions - What do newbies in the sport have to look forward to, any stories etc of people starting off, to becoming an expert would be cool - looking for personal accounts (aside from just mine)... Want to bring the grassroots of this out.

The reason I am taking the online approach, is because I want to hear from the peoples that are actually *doing* the slacking, not just someone whom proclaims themselves an expert in a book...

Can anyone help?

Thanks a mill 8^)

Depending on how flexible your school is, how cool would it be if they let you setup a slackline and do a demonstration? Due to liability you probably couldn't let anyone try it...

But you could show how the tensioning systems worked in a hands-on way.

I don't slackline, though, so I can't help you much.

Good luck! I always love to see it when climbers can integrate climbing into their school work.

-Kate.

Well, if it helps your welcome to use any stuff of my site for a paper:
http://www.slacklineexpress.com

It has some info on the history, the how and the why. Lots of photos, lots of random stuff about rigging.

Since my site has a lot of pages, here are a few ones that are most likely useful to a paper:
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/information.htm
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/sportfaqs.htm
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/tips.htm
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/tricks.htm

Don't forget to check out Cold Climb's article for various setup photos too:

Thank God for Google. No longer do we have to have students too lazy to do their own research!! :)

Wouldn't it be cool if you actually "wrote" a paper on slacking off? You could show up on the due date with nothing and get an A+! :D

I already wrote the book on slacking off. My advice to you would be to just copy a couple pages out of that.

Oh.. you meant slacklining. Sorry.
