Hey all...went to a climbing gym the other day after a short recess from climbing for the last week, bouldered for about 30 min and low and behold I got this nasty flapper that is literally the intirety of my pinky finger. Fun? Oh, yeah. Wondering if anyone has any home-remedys for pain, or at least making yourself function after rippin your hands up bouldering. :)

superglue. The non toxic kind can keep the flapper from tearing any farther. Other than that tylenol or some other kind of pain reliever for the pain.

yeah, the super glue works. i'm not sure if it is krazy glue or just super glue that is non toxic. so you should check that out. and you can always use some good ole tape.

I am unsure of whether you want solutions you can use while bouldering (in that case, clean the wound, leaving the chunk of skin in place, and tape it, possibly apply "krazy glue" before taping) to reduce the pain of ripped/ripping skin or whether you want something you can do after your session is over to speed up the healing process (in this case remove the dead "flapping" skin and apply some sort of antibacterial ointment).

Just rip off that extra skin, tape it up, and keep on climbing.

Just amputate. Never get a flapper on that hand again.

As a physio recently told one of my mates, "sometimes you have to handle a little bit of pain". In other words stop being such a Nancy and just deal with it. :P

alrighty my personal remedy so i can keep climbing... bite the loose skin the closest to the connection point to the rest of the live skin as possible and bite HARD and saw back and forth til its severed... then pack it with chalk and keep climbing. just careful in the shower... stings like a IBSJKLSJFLSDJKL
