BD Wiregates with those skinny spectra draws - they're like feathers.

Are you talking about BD Neutrinos? I assume so, that's what I have and from what I know they are the lightest draw available. Kinda pricey but I figure its worth it.

Oooh b/c quickdraws are soooooo heavy. Save your money for when you start trad climbing and buy the lightest wiregates possible for your trad draws... thats when weight actually counts.

I like BD Enduro biners. However they are discontinued from BD so if u can grab some up from a retailer u'd be lucky. Basically for me, clipping bolts, you just want something that can be clipped fast. So I use the enduro straight gates on the bolt side and bents on the rope side. For trad climbing i like the BD Neutrinos because of their light weight and i have smaller hands so the mini-biner feel doesn't bother me.

when you make trad draws, can you put wiregates on both sides? i know it isn't recommended with sport draws, but could i just get a shitload of wires and use them interchangebly on trad draws?

In reply to: can you put wiregates on both sides? i know it isn't recommended with sport draws, WHY is this? All of my Trango draws are wiregates on both sides and I LOVE IT! Wire gates are just as strong..so it must not be a strength thing...just curious! THANKS!

I use wires for the majority of my trad biners... and yes, I use them on both sides of my trad draws

I used to use wire gates on both ends of my sport draws, but I switched over to Petzl spirits for the bolt end of things b/c they're so much easier to clean on overhaning stuff. I use Omega wires on the rope end b/c for a reasonably light weight 'biner, they have a really friendly width for the rope, and are easy to clip. Makes for a reasonably light weight draw, which is more important to me, very easy to use. My trad gear is all wire gates. I think I cut a pound off of my rack when I switched everything over.
