Is it ok to use biners that have been used to rig a slackline for climbing? I know i'm not suppost to use the webbing, but i'm not sure about the biners...

I don't see why there would be a problem. You use biners to set up a top rope, then you use them for leading, and it works out.
Think of your slackline like a top rope setup, you can use all the parts for climbing as long as they are in good condition.
Good luck with the line walking, its tough but fun.

I went as far as to mark biners I use with my line so that I do not get them confused. I have had lines so tight that biners stretched until they would not open. I do use them for leashes sometimes but that is about it and they are lockers. It only takes a handful of biners for a line anyway, just go get the cheap oval bd's they work better anyway.

greyghost, I can strech my biners so they wont open if I rap with a backpack on. I dont know. I'll replace them when, and If I have enoghf $$$.

Jeremy,
Personally I wouldn't use them for climbing again.You said you had quite a long slackline and it would be easy to stress the biners to the max using a come-a-long to tighten them,especially since you buy those cheap Clog biners
You only need to donate one or two to the cause!!

I would use them for TRing but thats about it. A slackline puts a lot of force on the biners for long periods of time. If i where you i would just buy a few permanent slackline biners and only use them for that purpose.

so what if it's a runner wrapped around a tree with two biners holding the line, so the force is equally absorbed between them? Would you use those for climbing?

Since you are usually really cranking down on the biners to tighten up your line and since you stand in the middle of the line putting a ton of stress on the biners, it is like putting repetitive falls on your gear. Personally I wouldn't reuse the gear for climbing. My advice, buy some bomber steal biners and claim them as your official slackline biners. Later.

I absolutley WOULD NOT use my carabiner for climbing after using them on the main tensioned line.
Like it has been said. Those things bend... and break.
Also, I don't use my ground slackine biners for highlines. Once biners are used on a highline I demote them to ground status.

i was walking a line once and you could hear the biner making a ping ping ping noise as you walked, like the noise youd imagine a piece of metal on the verge of breaking making.
use them just for the line!

I set it out so I have one dedicated biner on the end of the line.
Then I have a locker that I clove hitch onto the line and attach all the other biners too for tightening.
There is no way my other biners are going to be weaked when it is distributd between 4 biners.
Hell, the big ass FADER I use that is taking the full force doesn't even strech. I can still open the gate!
But then again, i'm using an A-frame, which probably has less force.

for my slackline i use big ass half inch steel quicklinks because i have used normal biners and as someone before said you can hear them making wierd noises. but to answer the question no i wouldnt use slackling biners for climbing because a slackline puts a freaking ton of stress on the biners.

i would say use as few biners as possible. i have had the unfortunate experiance of breaking a biner that was on the other end of the line, anyways, the biner came flying at me and sparky and i saw my life flash before my eyes.....not fun.
