Hi Emily, I'm a SWM with a GSOH who lives in Christchurch and I'm also looking for a partner to share my rope and quickdraws. I like getting out to Castle Hill for bouldering and the Port Hills for climbing but I also quiet nights in, curled up on my crashpad with a six pack of the cheapest beer I can buy, watching a climbing dvd or reading my guide book. I climb between the grades of 18 and 24. (closer to 18 than 24) My ideal gal would be one whos into cams and nuts, carries her own gear and knows how to swear creativly. You have probably read this in other posts but the three popular spots are Paynes Ford, limestone sport climbing. Castle Hill, Limestone bouldering. Wanaka, Schist sport climbing. You shouldn't have any problem finding partners at any of these places. If you have the time and some wheels there are dozens of other little crags worth looking at too. I can put you intouch with a few other tourists in your position that are already here or on their way. Yell out if you need to know anything else about South Island climbing. If you can stand to share a rope or crashpad with a slightly crusty 38 y.o (just think of me as two 24 year olds) and some mates, let me know, we'll sort something out. Maybe I should have said I have a TSOH. Cheers, Gary.

I am one of the 'mates' (most of us have past 24, but haven't quite hit 30 yet, just Gary), and yeah, definitely get in touch with either of us when you want to do some climbing around Christchurch. .....have gear, will climb........ Gabe

I'm in Glenorchy, which is near Queenstown. Our local crag is pretty sweet, a bit heavy on the sandflies though... get in touch if you're in the area. Meg

wouldn't hurt to bring a tent. The nearest camping to the boulders has a good shelter but you don't know whos going to be there It's 5km away. . A bit too far on foot and not easy to hitch due to lack of traffic. Camping isn't allowed on the boulder fields. I'm pretty sure we can hook you up with someone whos got a car. Paynes Ford is ideal for wheel-less people cause it's only 100m from the crag. You can connect with a bus from Nelson that runs right by the door. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/hangdog.camp/ Not hard to find a partner there either. Cheers, Gary.
