Hey dude! Where you guys there last Sunday??
And yes i have to agree to the fact that Tampin is a nice place to boulder, if only the routes were friendly.
To those that are interested in bouldering at Tampin, please bear in mind that the oil plam estate belongs to a certain private owner.
Watch out for the rifle....

its good to know that theres a big possebility that tampin could be malaysia's bouldering mecca.
i want to go there to scavange for some problem, so could you give me some info to get to this 2 new places from the old site.

for your information, i going to have meeting with Pegawai Daerah Tampin, Pengarah Belia & Sukan NSembilan soon....
they are really interested to make TAMPIN as a Bouldering heaven !!
i will post some MAP later..on how to get to Kampung Keru and Taman Conlee bouldering site !

what is the deal with the malaria and dengue fever there? i read that around tampin the mosqitos are very bad, any true to any of these?

i m from local. so far, there are some cases of dangue but no malaria. however, the area is considered safe. ofcouse, it is wiser to apply repellant wherever u are.
for those wana do bouldering there but dun know the site. here are some direction clues for u.
if u exit from simpang empat, alor gajah and tampin toll of north-south highway, turn to 3 o'clock at the round about outside the toll exit heading toward seremban and tampin, go straight to the end, there is a tee-junction which link u to seremban-tampin federal road. turn right heading toward tampin, u will meet a round about after 6~7km of driving. turn 9 o'clock to Gemas, segamat, kuala pilah and bahau direction and go straight. keep to the right lane when u meet a traffic light which is 700m away from the round about and turn right. u will enter a residential area called taman indah. go straight and turn right again when u see the first junction on ur right hand side. then go straight again towards the end. there is an open space and u can find the bouldering heaven here. turn left and u will find a post & cross bar across a muddy road, park ur car there then walk in.
if u wana try the boulders at kampung keru, u go straight at the traffic light and heading toward Gemas. after 10~15km (not sure the distance) of driving, look for the big signboard of Kampung Sungga or Machap Melaka, u will find the boulders are some where nearby the signboard and are scattering around in the palm oil estate on ur left hand side, park ur car by the road side and walk in.

we went on a trip to tampin (tebong) this weekend.
it was great as usual , we also added a few new boulders such as:
no tong, 7a at the hidden boulder
psycho boulder, 6c
? (have to check the name) 6c
wuzz variant, 5b, all at shark fin
power talk, 7a+ at two elephants
we learned that several areas have been cleaned, especially the area around shark fin.
one thing is important to mention here:
WE FOUND A CHIPPED HOLD!!!!!!!
THis at the exit of a 5b boulder at the classic boulder block!!
We don't know what sad, sad moron has chipped this hold, but we do hope that this person reads this lines:
IF YOU ARE TO WEAK FOR IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT OTHERS CANNOT CLIMB IT!
As said above this was a 5b problem, basically a walk up a slab. Yes, you have to balance a bit and need some precise footing, and yes, there are no colourful plastic holds leading up the way. However, this problem can be climbed with NO HANDS!!!
So please, please, please, dear rock rapist, leave the chisel at home and focus on bouldering instead of destroying.
Tampin and a disturbed boulder community would appreciate your change of mind set

hey, i would like to join u to tampin trip. actually i m from local, but just new to bouldering. i feel excited when there are new routes were invented by u guys. eagerly to try these. so could u let me know whenever u visit here.
actually i m working a route map to indicate all the boulders around taman clonlee which is near to my house, so whoever out there, feel free to infrom me when u r the 1st ascender to the 1.
to the climber who chipped the hold, please respect and appreciate the mother nature!

Hi folks!
Planning to go Tampin next weekend to boulder. I'm from S'pore, so me n my friends are planning to take a bus to Malacca and then rent a vehicle over there to travel to Tampin.
Anyone can help with recommending cheap n reliable car rental? Also any good place in Malacca for lodging and makan?

hey,
where do u wana stay? tampin or malacca? i suggest u stay in tampin, melaka is a bit far to tampin, another 38km to climb site if u stay in melaka.
there s a rest house in tampin with basic facilities. but i m not sure abt the price.

me and some friends are in KL and are thinking of tryin out the tampin site, i read that u suggested stayin tampin whats the easiest way to get to the site as far as bus, car ect. we probably arent gonna be able to get a car .....any suggestions????

hey,
actually there r two options to stay in tampin, 1 is the rest house and another 1 is the tampin hotel. both r a bit far from town, abt 1 to 2 km. if u wana stay here and without a personal transport, then i suggest u to climb around the boulders nearby in taman indah where u can take a local bus from local bus station and reach there. the bus fare is abt 1 ringgit if i not mistaken. another way is to take cab which will cost u abt 5 ringgit. the boulders here r virgins and waiting u to explore since local ppl know nothing abt bouldering. hehe. so remember to bring along a parang to clear undergrowth and bushes and even scrappers.
if u wana try the boulders at tebong where a dee and patrick used to hang out there, then u can take a bus at local bus station heading towards gemas and ask the favor from conductor and bus driver to drop u at the signboard of kampung sunga. the distance is abt 20+km from tampin and the bus fare u hav to check out urself. remember to check with conductor also when is the last bus to go back tampin and dun miss it.
actually there s a small town nearby this site called gemenchah, but i m not sure whether accomdation available here or not.

hey weng,
there r so many foods u can get in melaka town. portugise style baked fish, roti john, hainanese chicken rice ball, nyonya food, satay celup, oaster egg, dodol, mee mamak and etc. but try to get a local to introduce u the best stall among all.
i m not sure the accomodation in melaka town, but there r a few budget hostels or domitorys around melaka raya. if u willing to spend more, then try the hotel at jalan tan cheng lock which is modified from old baba nyonya houses. it is very convenient to walk around if u stay here bcoz all the famous places like nyonya museum, state museum, meritime museum, red house, st paul hill, a famosa are all within walking distance.
i m not sure the car rental there. try to get the info from tourism information centre near the red house.

if you are a first timer to tampin bouldering i would recommend to go to tebong first. last time we checked out one of the other sites and it really sucked. not that there would not be any potential, but it needs a lot of work to clear boulders and trails, and the more interesting boulders are really far off. you just would waste too much time with finding problems, wheras at tebong you can climb nearly everywhere, as every block has its problems, cleaning is not needed at all!

Hi all,
A bunch of us went up to Tampin the last weekend and managed to establish about 15-20 new problems. This place is about 1km before Tebong and is next to a mini power station(i think) which is surrounded by fence. It is located on the right side of the road and you can actually see the power station and a couple of boulders which r located in a rubber plantation. Mostly slab climbs and short boulders and the thing best about this area is its SHADED !!!. if i'm not wrong hallil is going to draw up some topos for the area and post it soon so just hang in there !!!
