i'd go with moloko, underworld or muse. Good stuff for doing tough climbs. For a relaxed at the gym, The Slackers would seem most appropriate. Gotta love rocksteady and ska. 8^) The corniest song for climbing has got to be "stairway to heaven".

In Masters of Stone Five is a band called Sangano. After much searching I found them and just got the CD they recently put out. Good stuff. Let me know if you are interested, I like to help support really underappreciated bands.

Before the Climb: Meshuggah, Unearth, Strapping Young Lad. During Climb: I always seem to have Creeping Death (Metallica) in my head. After Climb: DMB, Tori Amos, The Dead, anything low key. Mr. Mons

I would have to go with AC/DC, CCR, the new remake of Pink Floyd by Corn, Metallica, those would get the adrenaline going for me.

It depends on the kind of climbing I am doing: Alpine: Metallica (Black Album, And Justice For All) Lincoln Park George Acosta PM or AM Mix Incubus Gym: Jurrasic 5 Hieroglyfics Method Man Dungeon Familly Oddities Swollen Members Blackalicous The Gza I don't really have the music going anywhere else, but I will listen to some Dispatch, Ben Harper, Nora Jones and the like in camp. I did find one thing. If you are on a long trip with no women be sure to have a lot of music with female vocalists it is really soothing. And props on the Sangano. Whatever song is going when Potter soloes that 12d is unreal.

wait lemme get this straight...all you guys climb with headphones in your ears!? Oh my god. That sounds about as far away from the climbing experiences that I like to have as possible. I n the gym while training sure thats great but outside in the wilderness? It just sounds foreign to me. Who doesn't want to hear the wind, the silence, a hawk, your partner!. I mean siging some songs is totally fun but putting headphones in my ears and taking away from the natural beaty of my surroundings is the absolute last thing I would ever do. This is not to mention the fact that climbing with headphones in is about dangerous as it gets. I would never allow anyone I climb with to have headphones in.. Ya know why. because I have learned that I never know exactly what could happen next. Might wanna rethink outdoor climbing with music blaring in your ears. And don't get me wrong I am big into music, and I play the guitar. The idea of carrying headphones along on a climb seems so rediculous to me I just can't go on anymore. I'm done.

Dude, don't worry, I've never met anyone who ever mentioned climbing with headphones. What I'm posting is what is blasting in the car on the way to the trailhead, and I imagine that is the same for everyone else. Adding to the list: The Toadies "Live from Paradise", The Presidents of the United States of America (sounds cliche mid-90s, but they rock), Everclear, Foo Fighters, and believe it or not Blues Traveler has some 'metalish' songs on "Live from the Fall." Back to Sangano, "Tomorrow" is playing when Dean is soloing that climb, and the word on the street is that it will be included in their next CD. Once again, if anybody is interested, let me know.

Morphine! No more, no less. Sandmans lyrics just slide out as his custom 2 string base purrs with the howl of a saxaphone coupled with a drummer make for my favourtie sounds! Tragically Sandman's gone so no new stuff will ever surface.

A few of the lyrcis in tool "This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal All this pain is an illusion. Twirling round with this familiar parable. Spinning, weaving round each new experience. Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing. This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion." Chevelle - Closure "Breathe, trust, bless me and release, Climb, hard or never be seen. Closed off, rescue to breathe. Just bless me. Two sided time, Your rebirth can't hurt, Branch out behind, the pain. Closure has come to me myself, You will never belong to me. Closure has come to me myself, You will never belong to me. Had to to turn, lay down, Your sting of disease. Phase you out, should've seen this coming. Go on confusing the soul, Hold my breath 'til you rupture."
