Started climbing in 1975 after taking a 2 week “alpine craft” course in Yosemite. Since my stepfather worked for Curry Co. I spent many weeks in the valley. Really buckled down in climbing the summer of 77, 78, and 79 where I spent 6-9 weeks each year in the valley. Never became a “great” climber however I could hold my own. Climbed most of the routs (back then) on the apron and around the falls. Summer of 79 my only big wall was The Nose, On The Edge and Tis-sa-ack. Because of my uncanny resemblance to Zonker (back then), most called me Doones.
Moved to Oregon in 79 for school and dropped out of climbing in 83. In 99 I decided to get back to climbing. it’s great to get back on the rock.
