Description

Chugach ripstop face fabric, lined with nylon taffeta and insulated with Polarguard 3d, designed for alpine climbing.

Down, down everywhere and nothing synthetic filled to wear? With recent improvements in downproof/breathable fabric technology, it's hardly surprising to see so much outerwear goosed, but despite these advances synthetic insulation still dries far faster and often remains more resilient?especially if it's the soft, warm and lofty Polarguard® 3D found in this Chugach Jacket. Polarguard® 3D insulation features a continuous fiber filament that won't shift, clump or mat like other polyester and down fill. The overall weight of the jacket is comparable to other down-filled climbing and mountaineering jackets and it offers a similar internal and external pocket configuration. If you're headed for spaces and places with vacillating or unpredictable temperature changes, the Mountain Hardwear Chugach is a smart choice.

  • Nylon ripstop shell fabric
  • Polarguard® 3D insulation
  • Bushed polyester and polyester taffeta fabric lining
  • Power Stretch® material around cuffs help seal in warmth while sealing out water
  • Zippered fleece-lined handwarmer pockets
  • Interior zippered pocket
  • One-handed hem and lower back drawcords
  • Storage stuff sack included
  • Embroidered Mountain Hardwear logo on chest
  • Weight: 20 oz. (567 gm.) in medium sizes

Chugach Pants 5 out of 5 stars

Although I dont own the Chugach Jacket I do own and am very content with the Chugach pants. It is warm, lightweight, and strong enough for any situation. It is well designedand very functional. Sadly I think the 'nuts' at MH stopped making the chugach series.

Great insulation layer 4 out of 5 stars

One of the few synthetic insulated jackets around - keeps warm when wet (unlike down) - packs very tight (like down) - very comfortable and fits well.

bottom line: great synthetic insulation layer i wear under shell without all the bulk and disadvantages of down.

Incredibly good jacket, I've found it to be more than warm enough everywhere I've brought it with me (as a belay jacket in 34 degree Arkansas winter, backpacking, etc). I wish it had a hood for use as a belay jacket in the mountains.

I love this jacket, easy to wash and always comfortable, I layer with fleece sometimes. I like how stays closer to the body than a puffy down jacket does. The fleece cuff's put the finishing touches on er.

Wish I had a hood, but this is the best hoodless synthetic filled jacket I could find.

I really like this jacket. its great for skiing, and being out in cold weather. it sometimes gets too warm an i just go out in it and some thermals. it doesnt wick terribly well but does dry rather quickly. i like the high collar and only wish that it had a chest pocket, but i think newer models do. also, the pants are pretty awsome too, reinforced knees and butt
